Yeah, I've quit. You'll probably feel bad for a few days to a week. Try to get some moderate exercise to address the endorphin deficit.

Me

Was a functioning alcoholic for nearly 20 years (drank daily too much), quit and feel 100% better physically/mentally.

Now I kick myself in the arse for all the money, time, relationships, jobs etc etc I F'ed up while drunk.

Just no appetite, absolutely terrible sleep (cold sweats), chills, and vomiting.

Head hasn’t starting being split open with an ax yet. Hoping to avoid that one.

Some weeks I drink every day, 4-5 beers, more on weekends. Some weeks I don't drink Monday - Thursday, and just weekends.

Typically it's the drinking that makes me feel sick, not the not drinking

Just drink lots of water, Gatorade, vitamin b, get exercise, sweat sweat sweat. Treat it like the flu. Go to a sauna or steam room. You will have crazy dreams. Take creatine 5 mg twice a day.

I got it done about 6 months ago. Slightly elevated but nothing serious. Just don’t wanna continue like that bc it will end up putting me into the ground early.

Apparently, this could change in an instant. Then one day you wake up, look in the mirror, and you're yellow and need a liver transplant.

I quit about a month ago. It sucks, but it needed to happen.

Probably the unspoken worst part about quitting drinking is finding out all your "friends" were really just "drinking buddies".

The best part is all the time you get back. You're not miserable for half the weekend. You can go places after dark because you can drive now that you aren't drinking. All that time getting buzzed and watching the tube can be channeled into other hobbies.

I really enjoy being drunk.

Unfortunately, no one else liked it.

Par for the course. It’ll get better. Sounds like you know what the deal is from four years ago. You know what to do and where to go.

So you’re just selfish. At least you admit it

Yea, the drinking started for me in order to sleep due to PTSD. Over time I just built a tolerance and it took more and more to get to sleep. Of course alcohol is awful for your sleep so I guess the PTSD won’t kill me like the booze will.

I will take a break when the baby comes. As of right now, just enjoying my last moments being childless.

5.5 years. Did not get sick. Wasn’t an everyday drinker but close at the end. Was irritated for a few weeks but no major withdrawal. Best thing I ever did but I still miss the warmth from that first cocktail.

Fully functioning for ~20yrs and quit slowly and stayed dry for 3yrs.

Went thru a divorce without a drop and I still dont know how I did it.

Retired and now its a hobby on top of many more hobbies I have aquired.
