I’m very soon to be 67. Initially 55, however life throws curves and it ended up being 63.

I think I’ll have 30 years credit at 54... then, I’m out

Do like my ex...he's 44 and went from 6-0 274 lbs to 189 lbs and got super ripped. For the past 4 years he's made over $1.4 million being a male prostitute and by 48 he will retire with over $2 million in the bank...his family is disgusted by him but ya know what..for some "disgusted" folks, they sure do act damn jealous of his money. Even his younger nephew whose 21 is doing porn and killing it..said he wants to retire at 30. Have a plan, follow it through and achieve your goals.

Or you could just apply for disability like PeeJ did

I shifted to "Of Counsel" at 48, I'm 52 now. I still do some work and try 1 or 2 cases a year but that is because I enjoy it and my wife is 41 and still working. I am not sure when we will both fully commit to retirement, it could be tomorrow and it could be 10 years from now.

Hoping my retirement is the Sunday starter.

Agreed.. but i know a couple of people who are loaded, have zero need to work ever again, yet they continue to work full time because of enjoyment/purpose.. wondering how many people here would here would fall into that category if they had the money to retire(?)
I don't have any plans on retiring.

I'm 10 years older than my wife. So, my plan is to retire at 55 and not touch retirement until she retires and just mooch off of her

I had planned on retiring at 58. That is the age I would have regular retirement/pension from Teacher's Retirement of Louisiana. I am about to make 52 later this month and I have been forced to retire due to 3+ years of cancer treatment that I will have to take until it quits working or I die, whichever comes first.
I do qualify for disability retirement through TRSL and I have long term disability insurance. My income after all deductions will be very close to what I was making as a full time high school principal. I won't be able to do much traveling or vacationing but hell I can't physically do much now so it should be no big deal. If I live to 65 or so, I will also qualify for social security and a small union pension from a job I held over 20 years ago.

I’m 49. My youngest will graduate high school in another 6 years. If all goes as planned I’ll be retiring once she’s started college.

I enjoy my profession and would like to do it until I perish or complete a legendary achievement such that it is obvious I'll never top it. But, I might get lazy down the line and feel differently.
There are just too many variables to give a one size fits all age for retirement. I prefer condition or event based decisions. e.g.:
Will retiring now leave my life's work and legacy in a good state? Have I completed my pre-retirement objectives?
Am I able to swing it financially so that I enjoy it?
Have I identified worthy quests for the post-retirement saga?
Another one is, both money and free-time constitute forms of freedom. Retirement becomes more attractive if and when time becomes more valuable than money.

Planned to retire at 59. On disability at 57. Spent 39 years at the same place. Not bored. Double spinal fusion did me in.
