You've been in law enforcement for 3 years total? All assigned to patrol division/ beat or any special unit?

Yep that's the same for us too, low cost of living and always pretty close to some sort of water for fishing. I love it here, I work at a SO.

Well our department is small. No special units. Myself and a few help with state drug task force and FBI investigations.
If I move to another department, I would like a department with a lot of different opportunities.

I would like the position of a deputy. A lot of different choices. Does the deputies work courtrooms at all and/or transports?

Try to get into investigations if you're wanting to spring board your career. 3 years in LE you are still finding your way and learning. 10 years from now you will look back at patrol and remember the "fun" days.

First off, thanks for what you do for the community.

This has been an entertaining thread to read.

I'm not trying to bait you, I'm wondering how seeing a knucklehead like Kaepernick wear these socks made you feel? What opinions did fellow LEOs give to you about it as well?

I'll hang up and listen. Thanks-

It actually makes it more dangerous when people slam their brakes when they see a cop.

SIAP,

How much is the base salary up there, and if you could transfer to any dept in the Stated, where would it be and why?

(asking for my brother, a fellow metro officer here in the Vegas area)

I agree. I'm still young. Mid 20's but I feel in 10 years my body won't be so forgiving some days. When and if I have kids I don't want to be working the midnight grind all the time. I will probably want a "desk" job.

Appreciate the support. But a lot of folks calling out law enforcement isn't new. It's discouraging for the folks who care and try to make a difference.
I would the folks who call out law enforcement try to make a difference. Try a ride long. Get on the interview panels. Go to law enforcement trainings. See what LEO's have to deal with daily, hourly and nightly. I'm happy to have ride longs, I don't care if they support us or not. I think it opens there eyes to what the society doesn't see.

I agree. "heavy traffic" in my area is only 5-10 cards at a time. There is never traffic delays. If there is, it's because of crashes or animals like moose, elk, or bears.

Yes and no. A lot of folks use but the younger crowd used it more. My area quit offering it. But with drunk driving. People usually re offend a lot and have been doing it for years and don't see anything wrong with it.

Good thread.

Have you ever been offered a bribe? You know, $100.00 or w/e to let the speeding ticket go by.
