I'm stuck on this one. I would like to see more research on it from states like Colorado and Washington.

Well for an example. Typical radar devices could be off by 2-3 mph. Each officer views speeding differently. By law if you're doing 26 in a 25 we could stop you. But most won't.

Do you consider yourself more "serve &protect" or enforce? Be honest, this is very important.

More protect and serve. I enforce the laws when I have to. But I'm not trying to turn my community into nazi Germany.

(A) How big is your civil asset forfeiture slush fund every year, and, (B) does it make you feel like shite for seizing the very assets people require in order to hire a credible defense attorney, thus putting a heavy thumb on the scales of justice?

Honestly I'm not sure the total amount. From my understanding it goes to the directly to the city. Generally I feel bad. If you can't prove the assets were part of the illegal activity then they should be left alone.

No. Only document I can think of was my first credit card. I really wanted to get one so I fudged my income a tad.

I laugh at those people. I just say drive safe or take care. I tell newer officers not to say that.

Thanks, but the term "criminal" speeding: does this refer to some other level of malfeasance on the part of the speeder? Or, is all speeding considered "criminal"?

I'll give you examples. We had a older gentlemen who started to show up to work with new vehicles and started to see him off-duty with really nice things. We all kinda thought that it was unusual but didn't think much of it. Until one day one of the local meth heads came into file a complaint about said officer. Meth head said that officer so and so stop giving him business. Captain digs deeper and finds out that the officer was taking cars off private lots and having the meth heads steal them and sell them to chop shops and taking kick backs. He was charged and found guilty.
One of the local sheriffs office had a undersheriff get arrested because a cover up he did for one of the deputies. Turns out over a few months span a deputy had LEO's come to his house for domestics and they wouldn't even take the wives statement. Well one of the city guys had enough and exposed it all.

Some states have different levels of speed. In Minnesota it's a petty misdemeanor to speed. Not a criminal violation but traffic violation. Some states classify anything over 10mph as serious or criminal speed. Which bumps it to an offense that you can be arrested on. It all depends on the states and speeds.

Do you go for the traditional donut or do you skew more toward the savory options?

Also, how fast does a police cruiser go? I often have the urge to race one to find out, but I don't want to go to jail.

Jelly filled of course. The more calories the better.
But I would say 138. That's the fastest I've seen of our guys pursuits.

What are you searching on the internet when you are just parked somewhere supposedly "watching traffic"?
