Deputies and/or employees of EBRSO need to know better. No excuse.
I'm neutral as frick on the whole thing, but the guy started rolling his video as the EBRSO clerk was walking out of the lady's room. I'm sure she should just think nothing of it in today's climate.

He was obviously working undercover.

Watched the video.
Journalist never did anything wrong or any acts to warrant reasonable suspicions of a crime.
The Baton Rouge Constable’s office hires dumb assess, dresses them in official looking police style uniforms, and calls them cops. They were clearly uninformed and acted upon a belief that what he was doing was illegal, unfortunately they were wrong.
No one should be surprised this audit targeted Baton Rouge. The Parish Attorneys office paid protesters that were on video obstructing a United States Highway instead of defending the lawful arrest from the summer of ‘16.
Not even going to bring up the woke City Council that authorized the 5 million to the Sterling family instead of identifying all of Sterlings levels of resistance.
Dumb arse Constables like these give the educated, hard working, good cops in this country a bad name.
Although Baton Rouge Police, a completely separate department than shown in the video, does hire their fair share of morons, Training at least recognized the vulnerability of these style audits after the summer of ‘16 and provided specific training to ensure that everyone was aware of constitutionally protected speech, press, religion, and rights to bear arms.
fricking idiots.

I think this "auditor" did his research and knew this office would be a soft target for his scam to get paid.

Here is what I don't follow.
Government owned building =/= public space, does it?
I get that there are floors in that building intended for the public to do "business" with the city. You should be able to video your heart out there.
But, does that imply anyone can wander and record on any floor in that building? Was this guy on one of the floors intended for the public?
The cops were power trippy dicks, no dispute there.

This. The entire BR Constable's office has a combined IQ of 12.

If the public is allowed in, its public space. The public also pays for this place so without a doubt, its public.
My only issue is he recorded the EBRSO clerk coming out of the bathroom and according to what I've heard, he cut the first part of the video that literally shows her coming out of a door marked "ladies room".

Their new library nearby is fancy. But when I saw the preliminary drawings when it was first proposed, I thought it was ugly. When I saw it come together after all the changes, I thought it was ugly. But now that construction is done and its finally open.....I still think it's ugly.
It’s better than the old one

You are under estimating the motive and suaveness of these auditors.
They take advantage of legal acts that may be perceived as illegal to entice the encounter you saw.
Look, although these cops are idiots, I don’t think they were acting with malice. They likely reasonably believed that filming at this location was illegal or in some way a suspicious enough act to warrant a threat.
They take advantage of law enforcement confusing military site security and acted upon that. The problem is law enforcement and the military have separate roles. Public buildings, although soft targets for terrorist, are still public and can be filmed.
The ladies restroom exit point in the hallway was likely an area that the auditor new was morally wrong to film, but legal.
Let’s see how the woke City Council handles this pay out. You think Shauna Banks will demand that this white guy receive payment? You the The Advocate will run scare stories explaining what could happen if this matter went before trial?
Baton Rouge is a racist town. It’s just not racist towards the people that it used to be anymore. The script has been flipped and boy are some of us aware who the victim is now.
In honor of MLK, I provide this quote of his “Black supremacy is as dangerous as white supremacy, and God is not interested merely in the freedom of black men and brown men and yellow men. God is interested in the freedom of the whole human race and the creation of a society where all men will live together as brothers, and all men will respect the dignity and the worth of all human personality."

Look at all those good cops standing up for constitutional rights...

Any building that is funded by taxpayers and open to the public can filmed. Airports, post offices, even certain parts of military instillations. If an area is marked as restricted or authorized personnel only then of course it's not open to the public. Generally all lobbies open foyers and rooms with no barrier to entry are acceptable.
Kicking someone out of a public building because they are recording is like kicking someone out of a public building because they are Jewish and have a yamaka on their head.
Religion and public photography are both protected by the 1st amendment.
The consequences for doing so may not be the same in the court of public opinion, but in a court room they are the same.

Oh give me a break. She walks out of a door into a public lobby/hallway and he’s in the lobby. He’s not stalked outside a bathroom waiting for a woman to walk out.
Why is walking out a ladies bathroom a private ordeal like some of y’all are trying to make it? A woman walks out a bathroom…OH NO!!!!!!

I'm not saying it's a huge deal, but from a female's perspective, walking out of a bathroom in today's climate, to be met with a guy obviously recording you isn't exactly something that most women would just brush off and be like "oh, hi, see anything you like?"

The purported purpose of these "audits" (which is why they are called audits), is to make sure police and public servants know and respect the law, and don't violate rights. It's also to expose police officers who have ego problems and power trips, and to expose police who don't care about the rights of citizens. (What I find interesting is that even when the cop realizes he has no basis to arrest the guy, they almost ALWAYS have to say something else...or give some sort of directive...like "Don't block traffic on the street.." or don't go on to private property. It's like they feel like they have to give a directive to non-police...I guess just to maintain dominance or feel in control. It's really bizarre...because it happens every time.)

I know its different in each parish, but what do constables do in EBR?
Im in Iberville parish.. Constables are an elected position and all they pretty much do is serve warrants.
But in EBR, its a whole department right? They have their own vehicles?
