Email from Demco:
Preliminary assessment from our seven parish service area shows extensive damage to system infrastructure. Sixty transmission poles and over 300 three-phase poles are down, which affects an estimated 60,000-80,000 members. Until repairs are made to transmission poles and substation transformers, power cannot be distributed to you - our members.

Restoration will be a weeks long effort.

Any update to Shenandoah/White Oak area? I know there’s a tree that took down a line right in the bend on George O’Neal. Anybody working in the area?

Entergy or demco? Demco side of shenandoah is fed from substation on Vignes. Through servitude on N Accord to general Forrest. There is a huge tree down in servitude. But just next to the substation on vignes at Womack rd a tree took out 7-8 3 phase poles. May have taken out the substation transformers as no demco customer in the area is on and I just passed the substation and no crews are working the area

Well atleast people are getting some information from demco… entergy I haven’t heard or seen anything other than the outage map going more red on area’s there were green, and the status for my house just says “arrived”

Edit: just used STAT to Entergy and they changed there status from “Arrived” to “ AWARE OF THE OUTAGE” like the automated system is getting pissed

Live off HWY 30 by the hospital. A good part of 30 and 44 have power except for our street next door to the hospital. I could be more optimistic if I could see a pattern of restoration but I am not an Entergy lineman so I don’t know what the thinking is.

I’m very grateful to whoever did lol. I was hopeful it would come on later today or tomorrow. I had a generator running a few things. Found gas to fill up gas cans earlier. Finished the clean up work in my yard. Had turned off the generator about 30 mins before power came back on. Pray others get their power soon. My mother and sister live in pelican point and are without. Have a friend in Metairie who has a standby generator but not much water

Does anyone know where the transmission line and substations issues are in reference to this email? I wonder if they are all in a certain area or spread around throughout their service area

I live off Burbank/bluebonnet behind the Walmart. Saw trucks working on the line down Burbank this morning, and they wrapped up and got the stop light by Walmart working. Thought for sure that would get me power too, yet here I am still in the dark

Guessing that means it will be a while for me since they already came and left. What’s more annoying is the other half of my neighborhood never even lost power.

That email we got from Demco today doesn't sound promising

Rookie mistake. You hate to see it. You leave everything in place ready to go back on generator until the next day or maybe even the day after that. They may only discover a fault they have to shut the power down for when the turn it back on the first time and they may have to shut down your perfectly functional leg of the system to fix someone else's leg over the next few days.

Because Entergy's operation is only marginally better than Chernobyl's.
