INFORMATION!
There are hundreds of apps that do similar things. Your Uber app has a map of where your driver is and how long it will take him to get there. Why can’t they operate something similar? Show how many trucks are working where. Why can’t they give us information on what is going on in certain areas, so everyone can make informed decisions. Most people would be fine knowing “your house is priority 9 on the list- it will be 2 weeks until we can have your power restored”. Tell us what clusters are getting the priority.
We aren’t getting any information other than “we are working hard”.
ETA: Let me set something straight, since I have a few downvotes. This has NOTHING to do with the line workers and the front line workers who are busting their arse. This has everything to do with who is managing restoration.

That sounds good, but I really doubt they even know the extent of things yet.
Then tell us that.
ETA: And just as I hit submit I get this text.

I just drove around the BR area. Didn’t see a single Demco truck. I don’t think they have even begun turning people on yet beyond the very easy spots.
Just because you don't see a Demco truck doesn't mean that Demco isn't working. They might be using truck from a different company.

more awesome entergy business practices:
they left their old power lines and poles at highland road park after they replaced them.
old electrical poles and cables have been laying in the grass for 5 weeks at a public park. what company leaves old power lines and cables laying down for anyone to hurt themselves on at the park?
eta: i’d bet $20 those poles are still laying there too. i wonder if they’ll ever move them at this point.

How long would that take to fix in your opinion?
Who knows? These are just standard transmission wires, not the giant ones like in New Orleans. They should have the parts. They can probably get the whole area on in one or two days once they get to it. There are a lot of these transmission wires down across Southeast Louisiana. Supposedly, most of EBR will be on by the weekend.

is there anything about Entergy yall wont bitch about
Posted on 9/1/21 at 11:44 am to J Murdah
sooooo exposed power lines and downed poles in peoples yards and at the park BEFORE the storm AND for over a month doesn’t seem worthy of concern? i questioned their competency a month+ ago when i saw those poles and lines being left there when they finished the job.

Got another helpful text from Entergy about how they will eventually be able to give estimates

Here is the part that people don’t understand and many who have posted in this thread recently simply don’t want to understand.
The communication is the easy part. If there was an organized efficient operation in place that was well managed, the communication of said plan would be nothing.
These companies can’t tell you their plan because they are flying by the seat of their pants and operating probably at the direction of a handful of decision makers who are making decisions based on their past experience. That’s the way businesses operated 2-3 decades ago.
They are working their asses off, for sure. But they aren’t working efficiently.

I just got the same thing. I click on the link which brings me to a map that isn't working or updated.
Seriously

Would you rather a bad estimate or no estimate? Serious question.

Honestly I’d rather them give me a bad one and lie vs them just not telling me anything … tell me something like sept 6th we expect to have power on and on the 3rd it happens I’d be thrilled but lie to me or something let me know something so I’m not constantly searching for damage like I work for Entergy doing assessments

I’d rather they stop sending these stupid texts

It's really bad. This is from a New York Times article.

Entergy’s Push to Restore Power in Louisiana Is Slowed by Downed Lines
The utility said on Monday that Hurricane Ida had put 216 substations and more than 2,000 miles of transmission lines out of service.

If today they tell you the 3rd and it ends up being the 9th, you’d be 100x more upset if they had waited to tell you on the 3rd that it’ll be the 9th. Estimating a bad date does no one any good. It’s useless. And you’d be a fool to find comfort in a lie.

Yes it is. From the red banner above the outage map:
quote:
Despite the significant logistical challenges and accessibility issues in some of the hardest-hit areas, our team has been able to assess about 28% of the impacted infrastructure and has identified 2095 broken poles, 422 damaged transformers, and 2351 downed spans of wire statewide. Assessments will continue over the next few days but that may be extended for the more extensively damaged areas in the state.
