I’m at the beach 3-4 times a week.

I’m at the point where I can’t imagine life without it

I was 3 hours away from each for 20 years. Had a choice. The mountains are beautiful. I live at the beach.

Yeah, winter on the beach here is a very different experience. Not bad in summer though.

Where else can you see glacier, beach, whale?

Tell me more about Estes Park. I'm planning on visiting up there in the near future, and I've never been.

Ozarks are nice but not as pretty as the the Blue Ridge

I lived in Northern Virginia for a few years, and it is beautiful. However, I think the area around Jasper, AR rivals most areas in the Blue Ridge. That's all there is in that part of the state, though-- natural beauty.

Lived in the Ozarks for 50 years. Buffalo and the Kings River are the tits.

Retired on the Gulf Coast equally legit.

Lived in the Ozarks for more than 10 years. Rivers are fun in the summer, but it's humid as hell, and hot. Ice, not snow, in the wintertime, and the roads can be impossible to drive on for a couple days. Not a fan of the cold temperatures.

Definitely does not compare to the Rockies or Blue Ridge mountains. Pretty country, mostly good people (not counting the meth heads), but not much in the way of entertainment venues. At least not in the smaller towns.

Hwy 7, AR, and the Cherolola Skyway, NC, are two of the most beautiful roads I have ever ridden on so I you won't get an argument from me.

Love the mountains but for a retiree it seems like mountain life would be a lot tougher than beach life. Old people and harsh winter conditions typically aren’t good combinations.

I'm going with mountains since I ride a motorcycle and just about all my long road trips involve heading to one of 3 mountain ranges to ride in----The Ozarks, Rockies or Smoky Mountains with my favorite being the Rockies.

Besides, I prefer cooler weather for the most part and beaches are normally associated with warmer climate zones.

I’m retiring to StAugustine Beach in a few more years. I already own the house. My plan is to spend 2;3 of the year at the beach and travel the rest pulling an Airstream. I will plan my travels to find cool temperatures during the miserable summer months.

My plan is to do both.

So, do you plan on renting out your beach house when you're traveling? Peak season rentals can bring in a lot of cash for the homeowner, but I don't know if the hassle of clearing out all your personal stuff would be worth it to allow folks to use your home like a vacation spot.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen. German Alps. If I could make a living there I'd move tomorrow.
