That there could be another human being that I would value their success over my own.

What little amount of sleep I could survive on.
How much free time I had.
How much disposable income I wasted.
How much I could love another human.
That two is 10x harder than one.

That vomit, regardless of smell or volume, doesn't bother me

that sleep was being taken for granted.

shite, piss vomit never bothered me. That damn NoseFrieda shite my wife would use to suck his nose out made me gag every time. One of my proudest moments as a father up to this point is teaching my son to blow his nose.

How nice one night of silence and sleep is.

How simple life was sitting down and eating a meal in a restaurant.

I had to use it one time when she was out of town for work. I asked her where the orange one was that we brought home from the hospital was and she threw it away because the Frieda was better. I had to mentally prepare myself for about 5 minutes before using it so I didn't puke on my son.

They'll wake up in the morning and immediately ask for a cookie because I told them at bedtime they could have one tomorrow. Even the most benign comment will be thrown back at you. It's impressive.

That carpool moms are crazy. I normally just have to deal with dropoff, and the new school this year is fine. I attempted pick-up one afternoon. Bunch of lazy moms drive to the street near the school. At this school the kids are old enough to be allowed to walk home. So roughly 1/3 of the kids say they walk home, only to have 35 cars lined up single file on this street two blocks away, blocking all kinds of legit carpool traffic. If you've driven that far, just take the extra five minutes and go through the loop like everyone else. And they get there early, from what my wife says, and block the actual moms picking up from getting through to the school. It would be much easier if everyone didn't think they were special and above the rules and routines.

Cant remember where they put their shoes but can remember if you promised them something they want.

So...why should my wife and I have kids?
This thread isn't giving it a glaring endorsement.
Well yeah, that's kind of the point. If your motivation is "what does having kids do for me?" then you shouldn't be having them.

How much I would love the little bugger and how much it would make me worry.

that I would have to use words that should not be mentioned together in the same sentence.
"Joseph, don't put cookies in the DVD player"
