Yeah but he was the man. Stayed drunk, had a bunch of wives (and men), and named like 100 cities after himself.

Can't believe there is no Hugh Freeze family pictures yet?

I'm sure some men, myself included, would say their wife helped them attain a level of success by believing in them and pushing them to achieve great things. Without my wife I would be roaming the country Kung Fu style, dumpster diving and dabbling in psychedelics. Not because I'm inherently lazy and prone to drug use. But because I don't give a shite about material stuff. The material things I have, and while not an OT baller by any measure we are well off, are due to my partnership with my wife and her ability to compliment my strengths and weaknesses. Would I be happier roaming the earth and tripping balls? Absolutely not.
Does that make the woman greater? Idk, but I really don't give a shite. Its a compliment, and most compliments are somewhat hollow to begin with anyway.

I always thought it was "a great woman" which I can acknowledge, but saying "an ever greater" one is pushing it. However, without my wife I'd be just another ol pile of dogshit in a cantaloupe patch.

What if it is a great man....that happens to be gay?

Women are great. They're nice. They're supportive. They're smart. Yada yada...
Each relationship is unique. You seem do depend on your wife a lot and it seems to have helped you. I think my wife is great or I wouldn't have just gotten married to her. That said, I wouldn't be homeless, without a job, and wearing a pussy hat at the women's march if I weren't in a relationship. I'd be doing the exact thing I'm doing now, minus the companionship.

Strong, independent and brave. I'll make it in this woman's world. You'll see

Whoa whoa whoa. I'd never wear a pussy hat.
But like I said, I don't have a personal need for material things. The things I've earned through building a selling a few businesses were just the product of the fun of building those. You can't really build a business while doing LSD on a daily basis, which is way more fun that getting up and working everyday to me.
