Seems early for it to be popping off like this, but I'm not a weather expert.

My wife is due Sept 10 with our first son. He'll likely be at least a few weeks early if he's anything like his older sister. My wife is terrified that we'll have an infant while also having to deal with a tropical storm or hurricane.

Made the mistake of screening "5 days at Memorial" a few months ago. She didn't grow up in SoLa, and has never experienced a hurricane before. Hopefully we can avoid one for at least one more year...

The bathtub-warm ocean waters that facilitated Beryl’s alarming strengthening are a clear indicator that this hurricane season will be far from normal in a world warming due to fossil fuel pollution.

There's no buffer just fully exposed. We pucker 150 miles inland during hurricanes, can't imagine taking a cat 4 full force on a tiny sliver of land surrounded by water

I can't imagine a direct impact with a Cat 4. Even if you are shielded somehow from storm surge, the winds are enough to shred most residential structures and cripple public utilities for weeks if not months.

I'm 85 miles inland on the gulf coast, and if a Cat 4 is making landfall due south of us....we are going to leave town and spend a few days on vacation in lovely Memphis or (gulp) Shreveport. I've been in almost this exact spot when a Cat 3 made landfall due south of us about 30 years ago, and we ended up getting 100 mph sustained winds, lost most of a roof, and sat for 2+ weeks without electricity.

Okay. The water is warm and we are in for a nasty season. Why bring politics into this? Oh yeah, it's an election season and their guy will be lucky to avoid shitting his pants on live TV before November.

They were historically warm when the 1900 storm leveled Galveston too. What was our oil and gas production output that year?

Cancelling our reservation at Secrets Maroma in Cancun today. I’ll be a pleasure to deal with at work this week considering that it was supposed to be a 2 day work week for me and now I’m here all week. LOL.

No CNN mention of the Hunga Tonga volcano eruption which is why global temperatures have been 1-2° warmer the last couple years? Should normalize over next couple years.

But govt cant use that to control us. They can use blaming fossil fuels to control us

Rob Perillo thinks you are just denying the science. How dare you? He's got irrefutable date...from a limited data set. But...How dare you?

I’m surprised CNN doesn’t say that the volcano erupted because of fossil fuel usage.

She’s starting to get that buzz saw look. Not good. I wonder if she will make it to an annular?

Because they aren’t impartially reporting the news, they’re political activists spinning news to suit their agenda.

Looks like Beryl is the first cat 4 recorded in the Atlantic basin.

All June hurricanes.

Luckily looks like this will miss the larger islands of Grenada and St Vincent

But the islands in between are straight fricked.
