My mom got power back last night. She lives off Dobbin Huffsmith. I’m off 1488 by Magnolia HS, still no power here.

Just imagine how bad it would be if a Laura had hit ya'll?
I fished North Houston Pole Line last month and they said CPE was worthless. CPE does nothing in the field, it's all contractors.

Nice half day pay to sit around. I won’t quote all of KHOU’s investigation because it’s more of the same. Crews sitting on their arse waiting on orders. Ineptitude and incompetence is astonishing.

frick Centerpoint. Incompetence at so many levels to allow this to happen.

This is what you get when you have a bunch of bureaucrats more worried about procedure and process than getting the issues fixed. No ability to think critically

Louisiana is corrupt and backwards in a lot of their shite but man they had a plan in place and hit the ground running.

CLECO in Slidell was absolutely unbelievable with how fast power was restored after Katrina, CenterPoint is absolutely unbelievable with how inept that have been, and right here in the energy hub of the US.

My brother was a lineman .. he works in the office now. I always hoped that people were patient .. he took his work orders from his higher ups like everyone else.

And he just always wanted to get the job done quickly and safely so that he could get home to his family.

Is your brother with Centerpoint?

I’ve seen this a bunch of times - company hires an engineer / project manager that has never spent any time in the field and put them in roles where they are directing operations. Clueless and helpless without being spoon fed, the ops guys lose all respect for them. The amount of churn, indecision and bad decisions results in a poor functioning org.

You see it when the MBAs get in charge of a company and see they see the 25+ year ex-field hand pulling in double or triple a new hire would and show him the door.

Their communication of what will be restored is unbelievably horrible.I get that there is damage and things need to be repaired. Give us an understanding if this is a couple days or if it's going to be weeks. I'll send wife on vacation somewhere if it's going to be weeks.

This is the real problem. I can understand it taking a while. Even 1-2 weeks in some places. But people need to plan. I'm not going to do the same thing if I'm going to be out 2 more days as opposed to 10 more days.

Also, I feel like in addition to Centerpoint's lack of response and communication, the City and County haven't seemed very organized either. I'm not always a Sylvester Turner fan, but I always felt like when Ed Emmett and Turner appeared together with a unified response that we were getting the best governmental response to a disaster as possible. We now have a complete shitshow with Dora.

Probably hanging out with Cruz since he likes to run from disasters, too. (I know he's in Korea.)

My son and daughter in law's neighbor (in Cypress) is a lineman. He is currently working on an assignment in Arizona and his crew offered assistance, but were called off. He has talked with many of his local lineman friends who were in other locations and have been turned away. This guy knows lots of lineman and they all feel the handling by Centerpoint has been a shitshow.

Even the hospital systems here didn’t have proper generator power on standby.

Mine has a full house generator. But I have heard that Memorial Hermann has been on paper this week and others have had issues. Didn't we learn anything after Ike?

We’re screwed. When do you think we’ll get power? I don’t think it comes back until middle of next week. 1488 and 2978 still don’t have power as of this morning.

I’m not expecting it until next week. I quit hoping it would come back on after 48 hours.

Unbelievable. Tropical storm winds in the area and we’re still in the dark over 3 days later.

I know the scale is much larger but after the 2011 tornado the linemen (Alabama power and also out of state) were told:

replace power to DCH hospitol
power to water and sewer pump stations
power to police and firehouses.

Then after those were up they were told to go to the areas with the most population and to start at this intersection and proceed east and repair whatever needs work.

I was amazed at how fast they could work. The tornado destroyed 12% of Tuscaloosa (1.5 billion in damage in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham). Most power was restored in less than 5 days. And this is from complete destruction, not a few trees down and such.

Seems like energy companies should be required to have certain standing orders on how to fix this and not be in the situation that Texas is in now.

It’s honestly shocking considering how much pride Texas takes in its state and how things are ran. You look at anything else and it’s solid as can be then CenterPoint is out here providing service worse than that of bottom feeder states.

Mind you this is the 4th largest city in the US and is not poor by any means. There’s big money around Houston for sure. This is honestly embarrassing. We expect a drastic response to this from the state.

Centerpoint is justifiably going to get destroyed regarding their bullshite arcgis mapping. For several days, blue was that a crew was assigned for repairs. Now, it's "assessment complete".

People were likely planning around getting their power back quickly based on that legend. Now, they have no clue. I hope they get sued into oblivion over this response, and I hate lawsuits.

I had them at my house in Covington. Moved back across the lake a couple of years ago. St Tammany had 3 or 4 providers while I I lived there. (CLECO, Entergy, WSTCO Washington/St Tammany Company, and I believe DEMCO had a presence)

10-14 days if I remember correctly, some areas were longer. Only the first ten houses in my hood because a dumb neighbor pulled lines down bringing a Winnebago in after the storm.
My houstonians are soft thread was wacked last night. Y’all will have a house ?? once power is restored, mine was gutted. 9 mos later we moved back in.
Zero excuse for what’s happening there.
