Apologies, that comment came off to me as trite and discompassionate.

Oh, I could never approach the heights of the great Cosmo. I thank you, sir, for making such comparisons.

Tell us, what do you think?

Why is it predicted to weaken south of Jamaica? Wind shear? EWRC? Patch of cooler water?

Assuming it veers off the Yutacan as a tropical storm, how much strength could it realistically gain back for a TX or LA hit?

That is a ways out, but models do show an upper level low over the SW Gulf as the system moves across the Yucatán. Depending on the motion of the ULL, it could either shear the system, keeping it weak, or it could establish an outflow channel to set the stage for strengthening.

So I know intensity plays a factor in how well a storm fights off sheer but what about size? Will a smaller storm have more trouble with sheer than a larger one?

I’m going to Cancun on July 17th, I know no one cares, but does this still seem doable?

Is there severe storm surge with Beryl?

Just getting back on here after a few hours and catching up on the news and video from the drone.

One thing to consider is that the WXChasing guys set up on the west side of the island (they mentioned it in their stream this morning that they considered the east side but didn't trust the structures that were available).

The island is only 12 square miles, but if the drone only flew on the west side of the island, the damage is probably a bit worse on the east side that was fully exposed to the surge and unblocked winds. With such a small island and that it was a direct hit, the damage difference on the east and west sides may not be extreme but it is still probably significant.

A smaller core is easier to disrupt than a bigger one.
