That's still self-made.
Inheriting millions after being the benefactor of having your way paid thru prestigious universities and/or inheriting companies is not self-made. By literal definition
They did well with their inheritances, but self-made? Nah

So we circle back to the OP, he has made the promise that self-driving vehicles and their market dominance in that space is right around the corner for half a decade. And today Tesla looks no closer to that and the notion they will dominate the market looks even more unclear…and the company’s valuation has plummeted 60% in a year reflecting that erosion of confidence.

The progressives and their turn on Musk is one of the more fascinating social phenomena of the past few years. He was their guy...until he had enough money to step out of line.
This board, and especially the Poli Board are perfect examples of that.

In all of your thinks you have one direct quote from him saying he thinks self-service vehicles will be a thing in 2 years.
And if he said that 2 years ago, he was right.
Anyone traveling to San Francisco or Phoenix can ride in a fully autonomous Waymo vehicle right now. Because there’s no driver, it’s cheaper and no option to tip the AI.

That is just patently false, almost willful delusion. So you are saying Tesla has made no progress in autonomous driving?

Once again pure intellectual dishonesty. Their market domination is clear for the foreseeable future. Use whatever metric you want (revenue, profit, diversity, scale, etc). And almost all big name tech and car companies have plummeted over the last year plus due to the monetary environment stemming from Covid. Stop being obtuse.

Of course. But the goal post will always be moved. “It’s unclear if he’ll dominate the ev market in the future”. What does that even mean. He’s dominating it now, Tesla accelerated EV adoption and every other company is chasing them. Absolutely nothing tells us that Tesla will lose their advantage in the EV market for the foreseeable future. Cash flow, production, manufacturing, scale, profitability, technology, supply chain, technology, diversification - no other car company comes close.
