And the 5.9 cummins was the best diesel ever made. Too bad it was wrapped in shite.

Dodge / Cummins with Aisin transmission. Superior to Ford and Chevy drivetrain, easily.
Chevy / GMC probably drive the best around town and with small loads. Ford's have the most bells and whistles and have turned into trucks that rich men buy for their wives.
Ford has an option where the truck parks itself and backs up by itself. Whoever uses that is a woman by default.

Ford diesels have sucked since they ditched the 7.3
That 7.3 was terrible on gas, but good grief it was strong and reliable. Was an absolutely fantastic engine. I know of multiple small business owners who have over 1,000,000 miles on theirs.
One guy has over 500,000 miles on his F650 dump, and is HORRID about doing preventative maintenance. Refuses to spend money on something until it's too broken for the truck to move. Yet the engine just keeps on trucking.

Just curious if the Chevy was the right choice.
kind of a stupid (subjective) question. I've never had issues with GM products. Fords have been utter shite.
Does that mean, Ford is the wrong choice. Not necessarily, I just got shitty trucks (out of the millions they manufacture).
The bigger question is are you thinking of getting rid of the GM over a recall?

We run the hell out of F250, with few issues, other than sensors. Loaded trailers, everyday, driven by drivers that could care less about treating the truck right. Love the '17 that we bought, last year. '18 on the way. 6.7 is a great engine.

I've had 3 superdutys all bought brand new
'06 - POS
'13 - Very good truck, never any mechanical problems
'17 - had it since jan '17 and it also looks to be a promising truck with the 6.7
i continue to be impressed more and more with the comfort and driveability of 3/4T diesels. Although the GMC 2500 Denali's are very nice and comfortable, i feel that Ford is still ahead of them on the tech side. and the 6.7 is so damn quiet the average joe doesn't even realize i'm rollin coal

For as heavy, slow, and shitty MPG they get they might as well be 3/4 ton gas.

It's the content, not the execution.
What's the best truck?
I have this one, but it's under a recall.
I thought I bought the best truck.
Did I?
I think if there was one best 3/4 ton truck for every application there would only be one brand of truck.

Ok. I didn't ask which was best. I asked for opinions on quality of Chevy 2500 vs the Competition. Do you have any personal knowledge on the subject matter. Do you drive 3/4 ton diesels? Do you know anyone that does? Have you had Recall issues, mechanical problems with yours? Has one brand held up longer on average with less minor annoying issues? (sensors, electrical, mechanical, fuel related) I would respect your/other posters opinion on the subject. Then I will monitor the reliability of my pick up with the knowledge I receive from Others experiences.
Thanks in advance for your information

Everyone in my family has had Chevy trucks ever since they came out. There is a video that shows how much the chevy can accelerate faster with a heavy payload compared to the F250. Also, look up the frame twist test that simulates uneven road conditions. The F250's frame twisted about an inch, dent popped in the tailgate, and you couldn't open it.The Chevy could open and the frame only twisted less than a quarter inch. In the first video it also shows how quickly each of their exhaust brakes kick in. Chevy won, of course. Lastly, look at the TFL Ike Gauntlet. Chevy won. The silverado has the highest resale value in it's category and holds the number 2 record to most miles on car at over a million.

I've been surprised lately at how few chevy diesels I see on the road now. The new Fords are starting to become much more common and the last gen(2011-2016) are of course everywhere. I came very close to buying a 2500 Denali which seems to be the only one I see in any numbers now. At the time they didn't offer power fold mirrors which made it a no-go for uptown Nola driving. I believe the next year they added that option.
I had a dodge 5.9 (2007 final year). Was a great engine but truck was lacking in a few areas particularly interior noise and quality. The newer dodge trucks are everywhere and much of that has to do with their packaging of the tradesman etc to hit price points that the Ford and Chevy products can't touch. Feedback I have heard on these haas been very positive.
I owned a 2012 F-350 single that was a great truck, towed heavy all the time, no real issues. Had 2 EGT sensors go around 70k miles so I traded for a 2015 which was flawless, loved the upgrades to the engine and interior on that one. 65,000 miles with nothing but regular maintenance.
I t-boned a small SUV with it last week, other driver ended up in hospital with injuries, I jumped out unharmed with no airbag to the face after a hard hit to the front passenger corner. Looks like a toss-up on whether they total it or not, $25k+ in damage and other than being sore the truck did its job of absorbing a hard hit without me getting hurt.
That said I've had another diesel 2018 f-250 on order for a few weeks, and currently driving a rental 2018 gas burner its pretty nice but mileage is horrid. It only has 120 miles on it so far so its fresh but mileage on dash shows 10mpg. Not sure what the pricing is on it but its an XLT with manual seats and decent tech inside. I like the 2018 but first thing that jumps out is the seat feels narrower, probably my #1 negative toward chevy trucks in the past.
I will say in defense of the dodge, I have a 2017 ram 1500 big horn as well and its a phenomenally better truck than their old product. Interior is much nicer and the technology is as good as the high end fords. I don't like the suspension feel while towing though. Just feels like its moving around a lot out back.
My wife also has a 2016 Grand Cherokee and it has been flawless and much better tech/comfort than the competitors we tried. The interior components are mostly shared with the high end Ram products and have been notably better quality than past chrysler products i've experienced.

Great engine, great transmission, but the rest of the truck will quickly fall apart.
GM uses the cheapest suppliers on suspension, AC, and interior parts and it shows.
The Ford F-250 is the class leader.

They aren't as bulletproof as people say either, although they stay together pretty well.

Probably right. I drive an 08 Silverado and love it but like the seat is ripped, door lock “buttons” tear up easily, and other things inside. So far though 160,000 miles and besides maintenance I’ve only had to replace brake pads, and just last week the drive belt.
Forgot, tire pressure monitor system sensor is out now, $80 damn dollars.

Before buying my Tundra two years ago, I'd only ever owned GM full size vehicles (3 trucks, 2 Tahoes) and can echo this.
I was always having one interior issue after another, and the parts always seemed cheaply made or finished. I've had multiple door handles break, knobs call off, random dash lights short out, and stuff like that. My damn rear view mirror fell off my '11 Sierra, and my overhead console (sunglasses/CD holder) on my '97 Sierra came unfastened from the ceiling of the cab and hanging off until I fixed it. It just always seemed like the little things on the interior would break on them, and it tended to snowball when one or two things would go wrong.
Also, not sure if this is widely experienced, but I've had fuel injector on practically GM truck or SUV I've owned.
