Camry, Corolla-they last for decades with regular maintenance.

get an old silverado/sierra. Holds number 2 record for highest milage at over a million miles on it.

You can buy a body style going back to 1996 and still have a decent looking vehicle IMO.
I honestly can't think of a single 4runner that looks bad going back to '84. The 4th generation ones ('02-'09) are, imo, the worst looking but mostly because they're just sorta nondescript.

Get you a toyota car. Durable, low mpg, and cheap.
The correct answer. A Camry or a Carolla.

Some people consider utility cars as something disposable and don't find the value in paying a high price for them.

stick with a toyota, the engines "almost" never break down as long as you change oil when you should, and they are standard to go 300k miles and sometimes even 500k miles.
tires and routine parts like starters and alternators are not expensive, and the resale value is good but not expensive so they stay close to being worth what you pay for them unlike most others.
mpg is good as well

i disagree.
you can get a lexus for almost the same price and you get a few more features and a bit more luxury in the interior.

if you buy one with 150k miles its still got a solid "almost" guaranteed another 150k miles to go before the engine is considered as having a lot of miles on it.

While the engines and other mechanicals last a long time, all the power and electronic gizmos can be a pain as they get older. For basic transportation in a under 10K used car the more basic is better.

We decided today to focus primarily on Lexus because that’s what I have and I’ve had good experience with it and the other one I had. Thanks for all the other recs

i got nothing against people buying whatever car they want.
but personally my DD is a beater because..well..it gets beat up on a daily basis. i haul shite and it gets door dings in the parking lot and sits in the sun all day & the clear coat peels off.
why would i want to spend bank on a fancy car which is going to get that same treatment?

Hyundai Sonata. When I lived in Georgia I could drive from Savannah to New Orleans on one tank of gas, never had a single issue with the car. There are varying levels of the car as well, hybrid, turbo, plain, or loaded.

Hyundai Sonata.
bad idea. there is literally a batch of them over the last 6 years where metal shavings were in the engine and essentially the repair is the cost of the car.
