Do you have the white numbers like the picture or light background with black nu.bers ?
Black background. I was worried it would be hard to see, but the contrast is very very clear. You can easily read it at arms length at off angles even on the brightest day.
It, and the atomic function, are what make it not a $30 watch.

JSAR
My Marathon JSAR is in for service. They are changing the movement, the case, the dial, the hands, the crystal and the bezel. The only thing I'm keeping is the rubber band. And it still takes 8 weeks to just box up this new watch and send it to me

If you compare the prices it’s an easy comparison

The guy said to buy a fake sub pepsi, a watch that has never been produced by Rolex. It does not exist.
It would be instantly spotted as a fake.

And every one is a PITA to set.

It seems like they all get close to what I want but there's a thing or two about each one that I don't like.
If they had a build your own feature and still priced at sub $100 for whatever you want that'd be cool

I left out the comma behind the submariner, pepsi, bruce wayne.....,
all more than half of the price of the daytona

Don't do it
The novelty of buying a James Bond movie inspired Omega will wear off before you've had it a month.
I would much more prefer a classic speedy or snoopy version however the popular models are rife with aliX counterfeits. Personally I would dig deeper and get something more exotic and rare that not everyone is wearing.

I like the slim profile and steel band. Perfect with a auit.

Most consider the 4r36/HN36 to be superior given the more efficient winding mechanism, hacking, and hand winding. My only grip with the 8000 series Miyotas is the indirect second-hand drive, which can lead to the Miyota shudder. Some people don't like the "wobble" the unidirectional rotor can cause, but I kinda find it endearing, like the 7750 wobble. It makes the watch feel alive, and it isn't as loud as the Valjoux/ETA/clone 775X movements.
I will say I love the Seiko/SII NH3X movements. They are robust, and the easiest movement I have ever serviced outside movements originally used in pocket watches. Other than someone like me who does it for fun, they are too inexpensive to pay someone to service, just buy a new one and swap them.
Interestingly (or not), all of my Miyota movements keep better time than my Seiko movements. That said, all of my Miyotas are in my NTH's (God rest its soul) and the Seikos are in factory or custom Seikos. And my custom Seikos keep better time than my factory ones.
I am about to send in my green Willard (SPB153) for service. When I put it down a few months ago it was keeping good time. I put it on the other day and it was losing 30 minutes a day, even after wearing it a couple of days. I already had to send in my SPB383 shortly after receiving it because it was losing time. My SPB313 keeps decent time, but rarely does it live up to its 70 hour power reserve. My 6RXX movements have been the biggest disappointment.
To OP: the best watch that isn't a Rolex is the one that you wear and enjoy. That day.
I don't own a Rolex, and I doubt that I will any time soon. They are great watches, I am sure, but they send out a vibe that would not necessarily be helpful in what I do for a living. I also would not drive a fancy luxury vehicle for the same reason. And I would have a hard time justifying the expense, and that's just not me, anyway. We have a jewelry store in town that recently starting carrying Longines. I expect that will be my next watch as I want to support the store, and hopefully if it gets enough Longines business it will get some Omegas in, also. I could get away wearing a Longines and maybe an Omega for special occasions.

I did order the adapters to run a fat zulu strap on it. My hands are too big for the narrow strap. Looked like a rubber band.
