Correct. The trend is definitely for us to have a very cold stretch from 12/25 thru 12/29. Highs don't get out of the 30's for Baton Rouge through that entire time. Lows in the mid 20s. Given the fact that the GFS and most other models are usually warmer in the winter time for our deep south location, I could certainly see our lows dipping into the 10's for one or two of those nights with highs around 30 instead. I'm reading other sources mentioning LOW 10's down to the coastline during that time. That's of course not official but just speculation at this point. Imagine that, though, if you will --- low 10's down to the coast would probably equate to 5-9 degrees for the Baton Rouge area.

Glad the GFS is showing no more ICEPOCALYPSE for DFW.

Seriously WTF

The Euro has highs in BR in the 60s Saturday and 70s Sunday. Then another front brings 40s on Monday. Hardly abnormal...

Single digits in BR is in all time record territory. I doubt there's any way to get there without a snowpack and perfect radiational cooling conditions.

and remember, models are always way too warm with Arctic outbreaks. We could be talking low teens coming to the Gulf Coast if all plays out like the upper pattern is suggesting. There is some agreement starting amongst the GFS/EURO. Now it’s just a matter of determining what little waves develop within the flow that could generate frozen precip or get us even colder.

That's from Zach Fradella, founder of a weather forum that focuses on our area. Not going to mention it by name here since I don't feel like getting banned.

Graphic below shows the predicted temps between Tues morning and the end of the week. Not in the single digits, but definitely lower than the 40's.

Hey man, I'm with you. I was just passing along info I read somewhere else. Info posted by an actual professional, not geeks like us.

Single digits would be all-time record breaking, I know. I still hope that happens.

I see the GFS now, and Yeah, you're right, it has been trending cooler the closer we get.

You posted the GFS. I was talking about the Euro, which brings a warm front back through the area Sat-Sun, keeping temps warm. Then a cold front dropping temps through the 40s on Monday.

Also I wouldn't call that "predicted temps." It's just one model run from one particular model. Not an official forecast of any kind. I know we're just a bunch of asshats spewing relayed info on here, but semantics can matter.

Well, its winter time. Time for cold weather....and whatever model shows the kind of weather I'm looking for is the model I believe.

Besides, we all know that it only matters if it comes from the mouth of Diane Deaton!

Yeah I'm hopeful too. Like I said I'll be pissed if it's warm in BR.

God, I remember that. It was so fricking cold. A few years back, when the lows were in the teens for several days was cold. That's got nothing on single digits. Single digits is really getting into "cold enough to kill you if you're unlucky" territory around here.

I do this as well. One of the reasons I can't stand that buzzkill Margaret Orr.
"Well folks, we're going to have a warmer than normal Christmas"

Frick you, Margaret. I don't care what kind of 'proof' you have, you suck.

Margaret sucks

Shelby Latino told me it's going to be cold at Christmas this morning and she is much more attractive. Fox 8 FTW!!!

Oh, I remember that well....that night a neighbor's house caught fire from them using a heater. I remember my father and I freezing our keisters off standing outside, watching the firemen work. I want to say the wind chills were about 5 below zero.
