They gonna tax them 401k's to get out of this.
You know what's interesting about threads like these, some of us understand the truth while most go off the reservation on a completely emotion rant.
$20 trillion+ in untaxed money is available to confiscation and the unwise continue their ways.
Have a great day everyone.

Boomers are worse than cancer

The nation's retirement is in 401Ks. Unfortunately, the majority of these subsidies are not directed to saving 401ks...they once, again, are directed towards saving the sleazy hedge funds, the junk-bond buyers, and various things that AREN'T in 401Ks.

Injecting trillions into the stock market is going to help your 401k too baw. I don't necessarily agree with it but stocks will be a beneficiary. It will cause inflation too though.

Deficit spending and other emergency measures like this are absolutely expected and, while there's a ton of unnecessary pork that shouldn't be there, deficit spending right now doesn't piss me off. The government is shutting everything down and not allowing many businesses and people to earn a living. They should be putting out stimulus money to keep things afloat.
Where they've gone wrong is constant deficit spending the last 20 years
Taking on all of the debt that the Feds have the last 20 years leaves us in a really precarious situation when we run into an emergency such as this, when deficit spending is one of your biggest tools in your toolbox.
So imo it's not the deficit spending in an emergency we should be pissed at Boomers about, it's their shitty budget management the last 20 years.

It’s not JUST boomers though. Plenty of Gen X and millennials want programs that require additional spending because lord knows government never cuts funding.
We are all to blame.
We are all to blame.

It is definitely the boomers who are calling the shots during this clusterfrick. They certainly aren't purposely trying to frick the millenials, but they are. The amount of money we are spending on this is fricking insane. And people want the government to spend more and more. I don't think most people understand that the government is not the source of an endless supply of money. You can't just print more and everything is ok.

Yeah this is the Baby Boomers giving the collective finger to their Millennial children. One last twist of the knife to those ungrateful brats.

I want Boomers to remember back to the 80s and 90s, when they were making their way in the world, still had kids in school, still had a mortgage (though it was WAY less than what their children would have to take on in debt), were worried about making ends meet.
Picture that, now tell me honestly whether you would have supported shutting the country down to save your 65 year old parents from a relatively small chance of dying from a virus.
I can't imagine it happening in the 80s or 90s, I don't think my greatest generation grandparents would have wanted it, and I don't think the Boomers would have stood for it at all. I don't think politicians would even have attempted it.

The circle of life will have many Boomers leaving us in the 2030s...however Gen X'ers will start retiring -- for those who are actually able to retire, that is.

Definitely the most selfish generation. It’s amazing that their parents were in the greatest generation.
It amazing you weren't aborted.

If this had happened in the 80s or 90s, it would have been a blip on the radar. Without social media, we barely would have even known this was a thing. It would have been handled much differently than we are handling it today.
