Baton Rouge Metro Council member Cleve Dunn Jr. has been indicted on multiple state charges, including bribery and conspiracy to commit theft, for his alleged role in the misuse of money intended for the city’s bus system. The charges come amid an ongoing public corruption investigation into East Baton Rouge Parish government agencies. In a Baton Rouge courtroom on Wednesday, a special grand jury indicted Dunn on nine total counts, including public bribery, theft of $25,000 or more, public contractor fraud, malfeasance in office, money laundering and multiple counts of conspiracy related to those alleged crimes.

I think the only thing that could fix BR at this point would be some type of federal or state auditor oversight that would forbid them from spending a penny without approval from a vetted team of unbiased and brilliant accounting professionals. They, and I mean all of EBR Parish and its agencies, cannot be trusted to make financial decisions with their own local, state, or federal funding. They are some of the most ignorant, corrupt mother frickers I've ever come across in my professional life.

Wasn't his dad implicated years back in running some bogus ankle monitoring company? I want to say he was in with a judge who made everyone in her court go to him only for ankle monitoring, and he was charging high fees and not even really monitoring anyone.

There isn’t a day that goes by where a Democrat isn’t exposed for using our tax dollars for fraud & personal gain.

I agree the D's are more blatant about it but let's not pretend both sides of the aisle aren't guilty. Sometimes I wonder how much our tax dollars could actually do for the citizens if it was all spent wisely and without theft.
Serious question, what percentage of your tax dollars do you think actually go to proper use? 75%, 50% less?
I think the number is probably around 50%.

mess about D vs R and more about criminality and unethical conduct. That part is not dependent on ideology

Who knows, really. It could be that 100% of our tax money is spent legitimately and 100% of the money we print is spent fraudulently

It was only a matter of time before Cleve would be caught too. All fingers were pointing his direction.

Colar is listed as the current owner, but records indicate Dunn and his wife were the previous owners. Agents, however, allege Colar never had control of the bank account for the company.
In addition, documents obtained by the WBRZ Investigative Unit say the company was paid $50,000, at least $33,000 of which was converted to checks made out to “C.G." Agents have confirmed what WBRZ has reported: “C.G.” is Core Group LLC, a company registered to Dunn.
Mayor Pro Tem Brandon Noel said that, while saddened by the news of Dunn's indictment, he will not pass judgment on a colleague until he has his day in court.
"I have faith in our justice system to uncover the facts and root out the truth, whatever that may be," Noel said over the phone while in Washington, D.C., where Councilman Dunn, Noel, and other Louisiana lawmakers are currently visiting for Washington Mardi Gras. "Should any wrongdoing be found, I feel that all involved should be held accountable."
Let the clown show begin

To be fair, giving it to CATS was going to end up with the same benefit for the public- none.
May as well just have lit it on fire and let the homeless stay warm.

Did they use city-parish funds to go to Washington Mardi Gras? I see no legitimate reason why a metro council member would need to attend that event, especially on taxpayer's dime. I could see the Mayor or even someone at BRAC going, but not a councilman.

I saw this on my Facebook feed and the comments are full of Democrats playing the race card and saying "what about Trump" and "what about the Epstein files".

I looked online, and there's $216,000 budgeted for Council travel in the 2026 budget. So I would assume they could use it for Washington Mardi Gras? In times of budget crises Council travel stipends should be one of the first things removed.
