Why posture that you want to remain Chief for the past (7) months and put up with SWB's political statements in the press if you ultimately intend to leave in a few months. It seems to me if he planned on retiring he would have told her and not have had to endure her demands for the termination of Salamoni and calls for a new Chief.

Didn't even think about the Lake/Salamoni aspect of it. Sad to say, but they're gone.

Gravy is already setting up for this. Already worried about who will be named the interim Chief. This way, when things still show no improvement he can go back and claim "I told you so".

They want a reform candidate. Reform what? They have no clue. Instead of having an open discussion about police brutality we have this bastardized BLM mess where criminals are good baws goin to college in the fall and all cops are murderers within 24 hours of a shooting.

You know as well as I do that this is all about "stop arresting us for breaking the law". I only watched a few minutes of the John v. Gravy debate but the part that I did see was when Gravy got pissed that John said that there are more murders in NBR than SBR as if it was a subjective statistic.

It's gonna be interesting to watch the kangaroo court that makes that decision.

Yep. "Community policing" in their eyes is essentially no policing.

wtf...he just resigns....must have dug up some dirt on him or offered him a real nice incentive package to leave

He qualified for retirement and will now use up his vacation and ride it out through October.

Seems like a good deal to me. He's not "resigning" like Nakamoto said, he's RETIRING.

I wonder what the Vegas odd would be on her hiring a white police chief?

And the sad irony is that it will adversely affect mostly black people when it comes to violent crime.

Folks in the garden district and midcity should expect more burglaries. This is also the beginning of the end of downtown.

I disagree. I think she appoints a black chief and saves face with the black community. Allows the chief to impose discipline and lets him deal with the fall out. No blood on her hands and gets a compromise of the two things she wanted, a new chief and Salamoni gone.
