Why would you be cool with a place keeping money that they owed you?
Why don’t they give you extra change back instead and incur the loss on their side?

Did the US destroy the 114 billion pennies in circulation?

This is what they're doing. What exactly is your problem here?

None of the businesses in my area are doing that.
One restaurant didn’t have any coins so they just kept everything other than bills.
Ex: Your change is $1.85? That restaurant would give only give you $1 back and keep the rest.

A business deciding to accept cash and not having the ability to make change doesn’t mean they get to pocket the difference, IMO
Make it make cents.

I had the opposite happen… I was owed 23 cents I think, and they just gave me a full quarter

Not nearly as bad as every business asking me to round up for whatever charity they are promoting. It’s not the donation that bothers me but the fact they are using my donation as a tax break instead of donating themselves.

I literally throw pennies on the ground when i get them.
good luck to anyone who finds them.

Make sure they're heads-up.

BS
Means you should stay home and play with yourself.
If a penny causes you heartache…..stay home.

Because it’s 4 cents or less.

Doesn't cause me any heartache.
A decent sized convenient store getting a few pennies from each customer could easily pocket an additional $100 per day.

Just more BS where a business is trying to make more money.
That's OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

100% happened to me. I paid with cash to avoid the card fee and got popped with that surprise.
Haven’t set foot in that place since.

You think a convenience store is pocketing 10,000 Pennies a day?
At an average transaction of 4 cents of change not given, that's 2500 cash transactions.

They could easily be making no effort to have pennies (or coins) so that they can keep your change intentionally (and everyone else’s). You would never know they are scamming you.
