It is hard to believe anything out of Wuhan. It looks like they actually started seeing the virus pop up as early as August 2019 ( Coronavirus May Have Hit Wuhan in Fall)...but the first we heard about it was January.

My fiancé is from Wuhan.
It is true.
China has a very large civil force. People stand at the exits of every apartment and office building with temperature scanners. If you have even a smidgen of fever you are quarantined. Contact tracing is very advanced. People wear masks as a rule.. no cap. If you are caught without a mask you will receive a vigorous slap from the monitors and sent back to your room. Overall individual rights are minimalized compared to the greater social good.
Truthfully the idea that Americans would ever be able to handle a pandemic as a group is laughable. We have too much personal freedoms to accept the lock downs as they did. Those guys got locked up for months.

The amount of disinformation coming out of China about COVID is the worst part.
-- All those "amateur" videos of people twitching on the ground and pictures of dead bodies in the streets. 100% false. COVID doesn't cause twitching and nowhere in the world have there been bodies in the streets. These pictures and videos were created and released by the Chinese government.
-- Early indications that obesity played no role in COVID. I recall a few studies from China that indicated obesity had little to do with COVID. That was a lie.
-- Early Chinese "research" about hydroxychloroquine. Even Trump fell for this. There was a double-blind RCT study done recently on all the available anti-virals and there were no benefits to any of them vs placebo control. No more effective then giving them a pop tart.

Our company purchases supplies and equipment directly from Chinese manufacturers and have done so for about 4 years now... Recently the people we speak with by phone (which are both from Hong Kong and the mainland..) have been asking us what our media is reporting because they know their authorities are not telling them the truth..

Sorry just got around to joxying myself.
Yep.. been back to "normal" since June or so. Still think they are masking up and social distancing when possible but they arent locked down or anything. I believe travel into China is still limited along with mandatory 2 week quarantine for those lucky enough to travel there
IMO a combination of totalitarian regime that can impose draconian lockdowns combined with a population who's been through this before (SARS, etc.). Or maybe they'd had a vaccine all along if you believe the conspiracy theories.
