I do the same, but it's because the cleaning ladies only have a limited amount of time. I love that they do random things like dump the crumbs out of the toaster and deep clean the coffee pot. I want to maximize the amount of time they have on my home.
Plus, I want the kids to respect them. Their rooms/bathrooms better be looking tight so the ladies can get in there and do the deep cleaning. It's a great teachable moment to say things like, "It's not Ms. ____'s job to pick up after you. Show some pride in your room and have respect for adults." I don't even want to see blobs of toothpaste in the sinks.
Good cleaning teams are hard to find, so when you get a good one, you want your home to be a great work environment and they want to return. Supply and demand in action.

When my sister and I still lived at home my mom would always make us straighten up on Thursday night because the maid would come every Friday....she would tell us....."Ms_____ doesnt work for you, she works for me"....that was over 30 years ago and she still works for my mom.....every Friday like clockwork...she spends the whole day at my parents house....my mom even feeds her lunch and they hang out. Old sweet black lady......she even will go clean my office every now and then if I as her too. She's like family to us.

My wife (and therefore I) does the same thing. We have to pick up everything before the cleaning lady comes. I hate it because my wife will overdo it a little bit, but I completely understand why she does it. The cleaning lady works set hours so the more time she spends doing dishes or picking up, the less time she has to actually clean. With that said our cleaning lady is a family friend and only charges $90 a day, which I have to assume is pretty damn cheap.

We pay ours $110 every 2 weeks, and based on informal survey results from our friends, that is a steal.

There's a hot former boxing/MMA ring girl who has a cleaning service in town.

This is a serious question. How many of y'all wives are stay at home mom's and paying maid?
Ain't no way in hell.

Not mine. She works full time. Hiring a maid has been a godsend and has freed up so many of our weekends. If we could hire someone to come do laundry a couple of days a week, that'd be even better.

Well mine would not let the Pest Control guy go upstairs unless the beds were made and everything was picked up.
Found this out by being home one day when he came and sprayed. Dude sprayed downstairs wrote the invoice and started to leave. I asked did you forget the upstairs he said no I only go up when your wife tells me it Ok
I got that stopped I think. I am glad to see others have to fight the same issue. I was starting to think mine was not just crazy but Special crazy

You put away shite you don’t want to get lost or broken

Not sure about your house but the maid is there to clean surfaces and scrub down the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. If we have shite laying around everywhere it makes it harder for them to do their job. I don't want to clean surfaces, and if all that means is I pick up my crap I should be picking up anyway why not?

It just depends. Some say they only do this and if your shite is all over the floor they wont clean it.
