Jimmy Buffett's net worth is 430 million dollars, 3rd in the musical department only behind McCartney and Bono and Bono's is only higher than him because he got in big on Facebook early on. Buffett will admit he's not a real talented singer or songwriter but he found a niche and squeezed every cent he could out of it and still is at 70 years old. Don't get me wrong he is a working sob unlike some listed above but the aren't even close to him in earnings though.

She's worth a billion dollars and her primary skill is what, doing bland interviews and getting housewives to read books?
Anyone who reaches that level of success, even if they suck, clearly has some talent (likely in self promotion and in understanding consumers). But her abilities and the value added to society don't match up with her empire, IMO.

I would disagree with Kim K, I used to think that but in reality look at all the present day 'Instagram' girls. She's the best at that profession, she was smoking hot in her prime. Supermodels get a paid a lot for just being hot, Kim K built a brand of her own.

Petti, I would apply almost everything you said to Madonna as well. She is a brilliant marketer or has employed brilliant marketers. Her voice is not that great he's not that great of a dancer she's not that good looking but she has made hundreds of millions of dollars. And has been around and an industry throws people out overnight for more than 35 years

Yeah but if being great at self promotion removes you from the list there won't be much of a list. All of these people, whether through the assistance of others or by their own efforts, became forces with the public.
Kim K is not notable for art, design, music, theater, sports, social commentary or intellect. She's pretty dumb on most things and provides no social value that I'm aware of.
