I was in law school at Duke from 89-92 and there is nothing like a Duke-UNC game when they are both highly ranked and at Cameron Indoor. It is an experience like nothing I have ever experienced.
One of the cool things about Duke is they refuse to build a monster like the Dean Dome even though they could easily sell it out. Plus, the students get the best seats in the house (and camp out weeks for the great games). There are some seats that REALLY suck. A metal pole in the way, parts of the building that make you sit hunched over but they still sell them and people are happy to get them.

So 9,200 total tickets and 1200 of those are students. Yea I could see it being a tough ticket. Also only like 40 tickets are for sale on stubhub. That’s craze. Students camp out 3 months to get into the unc game. Think about that.

They are dorky Duke students. They have nothing better to do.
I can't wait until ratface retires so I can go back to life without having to hear about Duke on ESPN all the f'n time. You'd think they were the only university that has ever played bball.

I scored a few under $1500 per a few years ago. My dad and I knocked this off of our bucket list.
It really depends on the hype that year.
With the top 3 picks in next year's draft all on this team, expectations are huge.

Duke-UNC at Cameron is a bucket list item of mine but at those prices it will probably never happen
Having the top two picks in the NBA on Duke’s team has driven prices through the roof. They are usually high, but they will never be this high again in our lifetime. You can definitely do this.

How do you camp out for 3 months? Do you just quit life things to chill in a tent for 3 months? Never understood it when people say this

K-Ville (the name of the "tent city) have very specific rules set up by student government. There is an actual line monitoring committee. Each tent (maximum of 100 tents) represents 12 students. During the first 2 weeks there has to be 2 students during the day and 10 at night, the monitoring committee checks this. Over time the requirements go down. There are quite specific rules and it was enforced well when I was there. If you are interested I am sure you can learn all you want by searching K-ville Duke.
It is a huge social event and it puts quite a bit of pressure on the students to keep up and make sure enough people are in the tent at all times. I have seen tents kicked out for missing their check tents just a week or so before the game.

If you ever want to know more about the Duke camping tradition, tune into ESPN before the next Duke home game. ESPN will cut off the game in progress to make sure you can learn all about a bunch of nerds camping.

Why does Duke play in such a dump? For how great the program is it just seems insane not to have a much nicer and larger arena

Only morons would pay that price to watch a game.
Never understood this line of thinking.
If you have the expendable income, then why do you care how someone else decides to spend their money?
I likely wouldn’t do $3k for that game, but I’d easily do $1.5k...
I’ll be paying way more than that on a Masters Trip where I only have to pay face value for tix.

I agree it is a little on the silly side but it is tradition and for the most part a lot of fun, especially the first 2-3 weeks. It becomes more of a PITA as time wears on but that is the reason the tent residency requirement goes down over time.
Keep in mind it allows a student to get the best seats in the house for a perennial hot ticket for one of the greatest college sports rivalries in the nation. Duke could open those 1200 seats up to the Iron Duke members and sell every one of them for an average $3000 every year in a matter of minutes. Places like Rupp and the Dean Smith Center have there own character but Cameron is just different and the school and alumni like it that way.

frick that. It's a damn college basketball regular season game. I bought super bowl tickets for cheaper than that.

How do students camp out for a game months or weeks away when there’s other games between that one? Do you get tickets to every game as long as you’re camping out?

One of those tents looks like it is pretty damn nice. Honestly doing it for one year would be a cool story and I’m sure that fraternities make their pledges do it for them a lot of the times.

I flew up last year to see Duke and Syracuse. I always wanted to go and this meant more to me personally because I wanted to see Krzyzewski vs Boeheim. And I also wanted to see Marvin Bagley in person.
It was the most I’ve ever paid for any ticket anywhere by a good margin, but doesn’t come close to matching these prices.
But admittedly Duke vs UNC at Cameron Indoor is a much bigger deal and the true bucket list matchup. And factoring in the experience of watching Zion and friends,,, that’s a waaaaay bigger deal than seeing Bagley and Grayson Allen, ha.
This would be so awesome to be in attendance. Just as a basketball fan in general.

By the time this thread dies, we'll hear stories of them camping out for 5 years trying to get a ticket.
