Yep that's not good. They just need to go ahead and bend over.

They erased 86 minuets of a Burger King surveillance video which makes you think things were much worse than what was captured on the dash cam

I'm not saying it is, but a suspect is very dangerous and hard to control when they are on the drug. I'm pretty sure nonlethal means are almost ineffective.
ANd I am pretty sure the cops did not know he was on PCP though.

The cop also has at least 18 complaints against him, many of which were excessive force.
That's pretty obvious by just viewing the cam video. He didn't react out of a threatened position. He was the typical dumbass that had no business being on a police force. As much as you guys hate us, we hate guys like this that tarnish the badge more. We see them in training, social engagement with the public, formal court proceedings, not to mention the pathetic prose put into their reports they turn in. You also need to look at all the B.S. about "reflecting the community", if they're not qualified DON'T make exceptions. The problem is all cities/states/towns are worried about now is PC. I don't know where/ how this guy was on the force but I can assure you he had a record (as posted) that was a red flag.

Yeah, I doubt they knew. I'm just saying if they had known, it does change things a little bit.

I don't think the punishment for that is death though.
Nope. The officer used excessive force. My point is that the cop being afraid doesn't make him a pussy.
Also, there is loss of ego boundary effect with PCP that could be discerned if you've seen it before.

Just FYI, law in La. is not whether cop was in grave danger, but whether it was reasonable for him to believe that he was. Prosecutor is going to have to overcome defense attorney arguing:
- call came in advising bad guy was high on PCP and wielding a knife.
- refused to comply with clear commands
- was in fact yielding knife
- knife strike zone is 21 feet (not sure, but he might have been within 21 feet, or at least officer will argue he thought he was)
- in the heat of the moment, because of above, thought the bad guy posed deadly thread
I would argue that the bad guy was moving away from him, and that should have shown he was not an immediate threat.
But for everyone saying it's open and shut, didn't deserve it, should have shot to wound and not kill, cops are pussies, etc., I just lol. That's not how it will work in court.

They weren't using tasers at the time but the guy was a gold glove boxer. Not sure how much time he had.
I don't think it would have helped even if he had one, tbh.

Justified. The guy was high on PCP and holding a knife and as anyone can tell you that if someone is closer than 20 feet from you with a knife they can reach you before you have the chance to shoot them. Don't wanna get shot? Don't smoke PCP and frick with cops while holding a knife. Good riddance.

Also, you all keep sayid he was on PCP but his toxicology report came back negative
Posted on 11/24/15 at 7:24 pm to undecided
If he wasn't on PCP then welp he's screwed
Posted on 11/24/15 at 7:27 pm to John88
Damn that was fricked up. I don't get what the cops were thinking. He was walking down the street, likely acting like a fool and all of a sudden he gets lit up from the side.

that's why cops walk even when they are murderers. they aren't held to the same standards as regular people -- they're held to a much lower standard.

Bootlickers are in full force. Even when we have a cop in the thread saying the shooting wasn't justified. I'm shocked.

But the original investigation showed something different, according to the police union officials...

McDonald, according to police, had a dazed look, cut the tires of a police car, smashed a window and “was coming at the officer.” That’s when a single officer opened fire.
Pat Camde, the spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police, said that night the preliminary investigation showed McDonald was a “very serious threat.”
“He now has the knife fully in his hand, going at one of the officers," Camden told reporters, “At that point the officer defends himself.”
Every cop who had anything to do with perpetrating that lie should be fired and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
