This.
I’d urge you to look into diet changes - I cut way down on bread, pasta, sweets, etc. I quit taking statins. Triglycerides went down to normal from high 300’s. Cholesterol went down to normal as well. Statins caused muscle aches. Also, I eat the hell out of bacon, eggs, etc.

Cholesterol medication side effects?
I don't know if related, but since taking it and now blood thinner as well, seems like my Vitamin D levels are now low...

Yikes, dude. I would be more worried about the cholesterol than the side effects.
Had went thru all of them. I can't take them at all.

Totally serious here. Short term memory loss is a side effect. Two of my co-workers had to stop.
Diet and exercise.

Statins usually have low side effects. If you have muscle aches, switch to pravastatin. It’s hydrophilic, where the others are lipophilic which means no muscles aches. It’s not as powerful at lowering cholesterol, but has many outcome studies showing that it reduces your risk of a heart attack.

If he puts you on a statin, some can have issues with leg restlessness — CoQ10 isnoften taken with statins. Ask your pharmacist — it’s otc.

Muscle soreness and I’m not kidding. Pravastatin is water soluble (hydrophilic) so has fewer SEs but is also a little less potent.

If talking about statins, yes. Most up to date cardio docs have stopped prescribing them almost entirely. Very few situations do the risks make sense for the patients.

Friend in his 70s was diagnosed as being early stages of dementia then his wife realized it occurred after he started taking statins. After consulting with another doctor it was found to be transient global amnesia caused by the statins. He quit taking them and his memory issues went away.

Holy shite!!!
I wouldn't care what the side effects are, I would jump on some meds asap.
On another note, I've been on Lipitor since 2007. No side effects for me but some people do experience leg aches.

I thought newer thinking was that cholesterol is a valuable and necessary fat and more of a bystander at the scene of heart attacks and that heart issues had more to do with inflammation than with cholesterol.
There's alternative thinking by MDs regarding the real and lasting health risks associated with statins worth taking a look at IMO.
I stopped taking them, altered diet, swim regularly and my numbers are balanced and in line.

Make a strong focus on changing your diet for a few months and then go back to the doc for another test run. Then if the numbers are too high, talk to doc about meds.

I’m on Simvistatin. Some joint pain but that could be just because I’m old

Red Yeast Rice, an OTC works great for lowering cholesterol.

The war on HDL/LDL is long gone. Oxidized cholesterol and triglycerides appear to be where focus has gone.

I don’t think exercise will help as I already run 20 miles a week and lift 3-4 days.
Sure you do, fatty
