Sure, there’s going to be a wasteoid loser here and there for any number of reasons, but it’s not going to be “plenty of kids.” If you think that, you have no real world perspective whatsoever.

A good friend of mine in high school came from a good family but flunked out of college by just partying all the time.

He then started a heavy equipment business and sold it for like $20 million 15 years later and retired. Joke's on me for staying in college

Dominican. But graduated there in 2015.
lol I went there - we had AP and honors. There were a lot of girls that went to NOCCA in the afternoons.

They offer dual enrollment, and have for a while. Seems like your daughter missed out.

I mean, even at St Anthony on Canal St we were offered algebra I and English I for high school credit back in 1993. Not sure what is offered now, things have changed.

And Dominican’s education is comparable to good school districts in Texas, but you can’t take those courses if you don’t make the grades in the first place. I wouldn’t have placed out of math based on my ACT score without Dominican’s math education

The girl that was salutatorian for our class tested out of 33 hours at LSU, she went to Tulane. And that’s not counting the credit she for her AP classes. Most of my friends didn’t even spring test at lsu because they weren’t going there.

Im not saying a place can’t get worse in 20 years, but usually course offerings get better. There are a few Dominican grads that like to complain about it later in life - I’m friends with one, and my mom is another

That was true 20 years ago. Neither CHS or SJA are nearly as exclusive as they used to be.
declining private school enrollment as a whole is causing that. Heck very very few are turning many kids away it's a growing trend.

I think outside of U-High, if you can pay the tuition you'll get in other than if the kid is a behavioral problem.

Ahhh, ok. If they had dual back then we may have just not known bc regular track. No complaints at all about DHS. It did her well. She was honors in elementary but there just middle of the pond. I was just always curious about Louisiana schools vs other states.

I think most good schools in Louisiana - whether a catholic school or a public school - have the ability to provide a good education. Which is obvious with the amount of people that leave.

The student and parents have to put in the work - but it’s there.

Typo. I meant “there” was middle of the pond, not “they’re.” I’ll edit that.

Yep, some of us losers still make very good livings and raise great kids. My poor son is a CHS grad as well. Poor bastard got a full ride at LSU. Graduates this year and culled through his job offers. He is more mature than I will ever be.

I understand - my mom was middle of the pond at Dominican, and loves to talk about how she wanted to go to Redemptorist. Not everyone can be at the top or even in the middle.

No he didnt unless he was an athlete and/or scored a 36 on his ACT

LSU doesn't just hand out "full rides" and maybe you dont understand what a "full ride" is

yep and some sort of legacy scholarship if you have a parent with a degree from there, that’s what my daughter has, but she had a 32 on her ACT and she has some other scholarship I can’t remember the name of

My son that is at LSU is bottom rung of tops lol

My youngest graduates in May and we are still trying to decide where she'll go. Most likely it will be in state.
