Our house was always immaculate. My Mother was a neat freak, and it wasn't odd to come home to find the furniture completely reconfigured. If there was an empty glass left on the counter, it disappeared in 30 seconds.

Dad was an organizer. I inherited both traits, and my house is always in order.

Believe there's a bit of OCD involved.

Every random thought that pops up in your head is not meant to be a OT topic.

I am 33 and keep my house immaculate. In college, I was alright, but nothing special. I have seen some purely disgusting homes, though. I do Airbnb and it really motivates me to keep my pace nice looking.

Secret is to have less stuff/furniture and it’s easier to clean/mop/dust wall to wall. Changing from rooms full of furniture and crap laying on shelves to a more spartan scenario is the way.
Who needs chest of drawers, etc., when merely a bed, one end table and a closet will do? It is the way.

I didn't realize how dirty some women were until I started dating. I guess I always figured the average woman kept things tidy. Whoa, was I wrong.

Bro, woman are the dirtiest creatures on earth.

I used to own rentals and rented to college kids and the girls were the absolute worst

My previous job as a facility mgr, women's restrooms are always trashier than men's. It's unbelievable.

I refuse to clean up the house until the baby is in bed. That fool is a tornado. I try to clean the kitchen as I cook tho and if pots and pans are in the sink it’s because they are soaking so when I clean them the next morning the food comes off easily.

I own a water/fire restoration company. We show up when houses flood and crap hits the fan. People are not expecting company and don’t have time to clean. I can tell you this, 40 percent of houses are disgusting, 30 percent need serious attention, 20 percent are clean enough for guests, and 10 percent look like model homes.

There is no common denominator. Age, value of house, race, nothing..

I have rental property and so see young people's living conditions quite often. I would say it's girls that are the messiest. Some female tenants apts look like a disaster hit it. I don't think I've ever seen a guy's place be that messy. Overall, I would say 75% of people have fairly neat apts.

I don’t fully agree with this but I get what you are saying. My parents made sure we kept a tidy home. My dad always said we shouldn’t have to make a mad dash to clean up shite if someone says they are coming over in a few minutes. We all pitched in and had our chores. I run the same kind of household. However, my sister is an absolute slob. A lot of parents who smoked have kids that don’t smoke and absolutely hate it. My buddy grew up in a household where his family kept a cluttered home. Now that he’s an adult he keeps the cleanest house I’ve ever seen. I think some people prefer it clean, some are in the middle, and the rest are outright slobs because it just doesn’t bother them.

I work in an industry where we send servicemen into peoples homes. You would be absolutely surprised how many half-million dollar homes are absolutely filthy inside.

My BIL is a plumber in western NY. When he goes into a house and it is filthy, he tells them to clean up and he'll come back later.
