Nothing crazy. My only college poverty story is that my monthly budget to cover rent, utilities, car loan, car insurance, groceries, clothes, gas, eating out, etc. Was $550/month and I never came close to going over budget.

oh shite, where to begin.
there was about a year here where my waiting tables job wasn't cutting it, as the restaurant started losing business after the 2008 recession hit. I had to sell weed to my buddies to make rent, and bought in bulk from some sketchy individuals.
had to borrow a buddy's truck for nearly an entire summer in order to make it back and forth to another job, as my car was fricked, and I didn't have the funds to get it fixed at the time.
Ate shitty top ramen as a main course for god knows how long
had painkillers prescribed to me, sold those to buddies and dealt with the pain
worst story though was breaking my foot in a drunken fight, not having insurance (all of college I just rolled the dice) and ended up borrowing a buddy's boot and crutches. It somehow healed ok. Ask me in 10 years how my foot is, though.
plenty more stories
I had a lot of friends help me out in college. I'm very loyal to them. Much more so than I am my own family, honestly.

When I first went to college I lived in the enclosed carport (no AC or heat) of a Phillipino family (very nice people), in the Garden District for $100.00 a month. It was kind of like the original AIRBNB. Gave plasma to take my girlfriend to the movies. Ate Ramen noodles for breakfast. Put a plastic bag in my backpack for trips to Mr. Gattis. When car broke down, had to go to junk yard to scrounge for parts. It was very rough, but fun as hell too.
Last week, I bought a condo for my kids to share while at LSU that is bigger than my first house. They do not know how good they have it.

my alternator went out on my car in the summer I referenced above. I saved up my summer funds to buy a used one, google how to put it in, and with the help of a friend and about 8 hours of trial an error, we got her back and running again.
This was a ford escort.
I also drove a 1990 Accord for a bit, including my first job out of college. I drove that bitch to Minnesota and back for job training. The driver side window wouldn't close all the way and it snowed as soon as I hit the KY border (coming from Nashville) to Minnesota.
Now the wife and I (who I met while I was broke as hell) live very comfortably, with a combined income of about 250k. 10 years later and a lot of hard work. I wouldn't change a damn thing. Being broke as shite in college taught me how to work.

Worked at Sears unloading trucks at night and waxing floors. 40 hours a week from 10pm -6am. Went to school full time without scholorships or parental help.
Lived above my managers (at sears) garage for 3 years. No heat or ac, showered in an open outside shower. A couch to sleep on and a metal folding chair were my only furniture, with a small fridge I found on side of the road.
His house was near Sears but a couple miles from campus. I made a bicycle out of damaged bikes from work so I would not have to walk to school.
Meals usually consisted of canned refried beans spread onto a flour tortilla. Ate that probably 75% of the time.
Graduated on time and with zero debt.
I worked full time too, it was not easy balancing it. I can't say I didn't leave with debt though. I unfortunately did.

Early 70s, only maybe 1 in 5 students had a car, lots of us took the Greyhound bus from our hometowns to school. If we partied it was usually with K&B vodka that was around $1.75 a gallon.

Not reading through this entire thread, but I am sure someone has mentioned eating the $0.98 pizzas. Can't remember the brand but I ate so many of those pizza, after a few years of eating them all the time I got sick of eating them to the point just the smell of them bothered me.
Totinos, and those frickers are badass when you haven't eaten one in awhile.
About every 6 months, I'll grab a few and kill those bitches.
Add a little tonys to it.

Did the plasma. Twice a week, plus a $45 bonus if you got 8 in a month.
I use to enjoy the cold rush from the final saline solution.
Pro tip - You get WASTED quite easily if you go drinking the night after giving plasma.
HAHA, good memories. I was a poor and didn't give a frick back then. Now I scoff at poors.... I need to check myself.

My Katrina/Rita bonus in '05 lasted me until I graduated.

Another CSB: Some of my podnuhs put one of these nasty pizzas in the oven and then lit up the bong. The weed was particularly good, and they all forgot about the pizza until the fire alarm went off with the oven on fire. I shite you not.

Yep. There was always one westbound on Friday afternoon, and it returned Sunday evening.

Never went hungry. Fraternity house was always loaded with food.

I used to play check tag. I’d write a check from my hometown bank to cover a check from the BR bank. It was the early 90s so it worked sometimes.
I sold plasma a few times too. I was seriously shamed walking in the place but it was seriously full of college people. A lot of chicks too. Then I didn’t feel nearly so dejected.
