I think the mayor is garbage. But y’all make a post saying she’s allowed high number of murders. Well, let’s hear how and blast her for what she did wrong. Instead of just “oh my god, she sucks, crime is high”!

Again.
She hired a yes man police chief instead of one who will do what needs to be done.
She could also call out the culture problems that cause these issues. Instead of her buddies letting hardened criminals out, keep them locked up.

Better police training can help officers know what to look for, more officers means more people involved in the community
Maybe they can help some of these kids BEFORE they turn to the streets

People are less likely to commit murder when a cop car is patrolling the street constantly. Are you really saying that a higher police presence doesn’t directly correlate to a lower crime rate in an area?
Again, this won’t stop them. But it does help lower the number. The only way to stop it is for a certain culture to radically change itself. A complete rejection of certain norms and ideals need to happen. That, unfortunately, can only happen from within.

The first thing she did was get rid of the BRAVE program. It utilized a very effective GIS system that showed which areas of the city needed the most police. Her administration said the program unfairly targeted black people and was, by default, racist.
Her lapdog police chief is an empty suit that wasn't even close to the best candidate, but got the job because he agreed to be a yes man.

Let me take back my earlier comments, it’s not all on the mayor
The police are doing their jobs, it’s the judges that let repeat criminals put back on the street
They go to jail for 2 weeks for breaking & entering & all that does is put them 2 weeks behind on cash flow
Next time they carjack someone or shoot them in the head when caught breaking in their car

Or how about we put blame where it really lays?
The fact that there are are ton of kids being raised in single parent homes or by relatives & they have no positive influence in their lives
They are ignored & abused & neglected & never taught right from wrong, only taught how to get by & use the system

Put better people in influential positions other than your friends or incompetent people
Don’t cut funding to programs that actively prevent crime rather than just respond to it
Increase the pay and hiring practices for police so you have a better pool to pick from
Don’t funnel our tax money through the council of aging to pay your friends for made up outreach jobs or people that make everything about race like Gary chambers. Use that money towards literally anything else
Just a few to start, the list is endless

Let’s see you could start an initiative like the BRAVE program was and target the gangs.
You could back the blue and not run them down and hire a chief that backs his guys.
You could give boos a raise, fully staff the department and put more cops on the streets.
You could start asking the judges and the DA as to why the habitual thugs get out on bail do easily and put pressure on them to lick them up.

Letting the cops police the problem areas (NBR) instead of telling them to stand down and the firing cops for no legal reason because it gets her political points.
The BRPD has shitty morale, an exodus of officers, and problems hiring new ones because they know the chief doesn’t have their back.

You act as though Baton Rouge is a city like no other. Trust me, when you finally leave that town you’ll find that it’s a minor speck on a map. Larger cities have done more with less than what BR needs to do. The fact that Baton Rouge size is so small would make it less difficult to achieve, not more.

The murders, for the most part are isolated to NBR. Have you been to NBR? You could keep hiring more cops, year after year, and homicides are always going to occur. There’s not much BRPD can do to stop thugs killing thugs in the drug game.
