This is one of the worst parts of all this. Two friends of mine each lost their dads this week, and neither could be in the room at the end (one had coronavirus, one didn't.)

I’ll be alright, I was expecting to get the call everyday for two weeks. So I guess I was prepared for it in a way. I’m definitely sad, but I’m kind of relieved as well. My dad said that mom told him my grandfather’s bed was shaking every time he tried to take a breath today. I called him the other day and asked what he was doing and he said “trying to breathe.”
I’m in a way glad that he’s no longer having to go through that. That would’ve been a shitty way to live his remaining time.
That may seem callous or nonchalant but I can assure y’all that I don’t know if there is anybody I’d put over my grandfather in an all-time favorite person list. Him and my dad’s dad who was taken much too early for my liking were tied at the top. They were the best grandfathers you could ask for.

I am so sorry for your losses. You’ve got to support your mom as much as you can. Call her, text her, send her flowers, etc. If you can, somehow block out all this for a couple of weeks and then start your grieving. You’ve got to make sure your mom is getting everything she needs.
My grandmother had bilateral pneumonia back in January. She made it though. Who knows if it was really the China Flu though.
