Gf and I used to go together every day but she said I was mean and demanding. Well frick, just because I say "one more, push it!" when I'm spotting you isn't making me mean. We no longer workout together.

That's a cute meme posted by a guy bragging about leg pressing.

Do the 20 rep squat routine for a couple of months and get back to me about leg gains.

I do squats every week. arse to grass, bitch! But you do know there are other leg exercises besides just doing squats right?

Might want to check those out.

I do but it's more like she is just "there." I tell her that I need my headphones in and I won't talk much. I might seem cold but that's the way it is. I like to motivate by doing a ramp up style of weight and it encourages her to push herself. If she doesn't do it then I'm just glad she is in there and putting the effort in.

BTW, all those that nag on leg press, I think it is a good accessory to deadlifts.

It's one exercise out of an entire workout, exactly, an accessory.

and to answer the question, when I relent and agree for her to come with me, we do our own things (me weights / her cardio area). I agree with the poster who said you need to go with someone who can make you better

One of the most controversial techniques, ever. I'm not arguing against going below parallel, it's that going that deep is very inefficient and leaves a lot on the table from a powerlifting standpoint.

By all means call me a bitch. Sorry I hurt your feelings for bragging about doing a lot of weight on one of the most functionally pointless exercises.

It's also pretty bad for the knees.

Nah, that's the saying, "arse to grass bitch!" Wasn't calling you a bitch. And I have to disagree with functionally pointless. Playing football all through high school and college, we always did leg press. It uses you explosive muscles in your legs, for that initial push.

While I support you and whatever gender you choose to be, can you please cut down on the pillow talk?

I couldn't do it. My SO is very athletic & trains runners, but I am not trying to have him coach me. We support each other's activities, but we don't do them together. I am not on his level.

The exercise phys papers I've read in it state that leg presses are not in the same plane of motion as what would be functionally relevant to most athletes.

They are a great quad builder, but the strength numbers don't come close to correlating.

I avoided squats for years because I had never been trained properly, and was fearful of injury. Used leg presses and the hack squat machine extensively. Was lucky to touch 30% of that weight when I first decided to start adding squats to my routine.

Body Pump together twice a week. I am usually the only male in the class, but my buns are nice, thin, and toned
