1. Check meter before bed. Do not use any water. Check meter again in morning. If there is a significant difference, you have a manor leak which is unlikely since you said it is not spinning when water is off.
2. Get a five gallon bucket. Check meter and then fill the five gallon bucket several times. Meter should read close to the amount of water you put in the buckets.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Who do you call if a major water line is busted?

Hmmm, you only have one meter, correct? (Some homes have a separate meter for swimming pool, irrigation system, ponds, fountains, etc.)
The easy diagnostic check is to close the supply valve at the house. If the meter is still spinning, there's a leak on your side of the meter, but before it reaches the house. But that isn't your problem, if you said the meter wasn't spinning.
I'm guessing it's your irrigation system. Are you home when it runs? You should have a wet spot (about 70,000+/- gallons worth) in the yard, but maybe it's draining below surface. Perhaps something heaved and a coupling loosened during Irma.
Do you have a concrete bulkhead along the canal? You may be able to find a wet area there.
Longshot: I had a friend who had a pinhole in the supply line to his refrigerator ice maker. It sprayed against the wall, ran behind the mounding and saturated the subfloor (pier and beam construction) There was never any obvious puddle. His first clue that he had a problem was when the grout lines looked grungy on his kitchen floor. Eventually, about half the tile popped up.
I'm guessing your home is slab on grade and your kitchen tile is set directly to your slab, so probably not this. (You'd see some water)

Why don't you listen to one of the many posters who have given you basically the same advice? Damn, stop making this harder than it is..... I'm thinking this has to be an attention grab at this point.

Am I the only one that thought this was a thread about an Indian named Crazy Water Bill?

Great information - the builder was only concerned about irrigation leaks. With 80K gallons, I thought main line. Meter isn't spinning in the couple of times I looked, but is clearly spinning at other times. We have the system set to off or 2 x's/week. Not enough for the usage. I am not concerned about the bill, I want to make sure my home isn't falling in to a sinkhole.
Concrete house, no bulkhead, the canal is much more a retention canal.
Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated.

I had a pretty outrageous water bill at an apartment I lived at in college. Not as outrageous as yours but still pretty crazy for a single guy living by himself in a 1 bedroom apartment. I think like $150 for a month. I called the water company, and they cleared it right up. Still not exactly sure what the issue was, but it must have been some kind of administrative because they took care of it immediately right over the phone.
So anyway, the point is that just calling the water company would be my first move. Hopefully it's something simple, and you don't need to even worry about paying for a plumber to come out and look.

Isn't your house about 6 months old? The first guy I'm calling is my builder and see what he has to say. A reputable plumber is next. Then, maybe a lawyer to sic on the builder, depending on what the plumber says.
It might be worth finding the sprinkler head by that green spot in your yard and do a little digging along the line. I hope your problem is in the irrigation system. It'll be a much simpler (and economical) fix.

I'm sorry what? WTF are you even talking about? I am having issues at my home, no one has answered if this might be an actual main line issue, so STFU.

Liz, I think you should tell him to meet you at Sonic. There’s no doubt in my mind that you could kick his arse

House was brand new in July. Slab guy next door and builder 2 doors down. The irrigation guy is coming tomorrow to see what all the "bright green grass" is about. I really appreciate your insight.
A good plumber can fix bad issues?
