Lol, I'm not asking the same redundant question over an over... it's a leak or a faulty meter or an administrative error. This isn't very hard, to most....

Your home doesn't have subsurface pilings does it? The places I'm familiar with in Cape Coral and Lehigh are built right onto the limestone monolith with about 4" or 6" of topsoil. My buddy's yard slopes down to his canal. Theoretically, maybe, possibly ... the water could travel on top of the stone mass and below the sod. But I still think you'd find a soggy area in the yard.

I hope your not dealing with a sink hole. That might suck pretty bad.

House was brand new in July. Slab guy next door and builder 2 doors down. The irrigation guy is coming tomorrow to see what all the "bright green grass" is about. I really appreciate your insight.

A good plumber can fix bad issues?

Ha! At least your builder can't effectively dodge you for very long!

Pipes can break in slabs and drain down. You wouldn't see any water in the house. That usually happens in older homes, but it could be a construction defect, I suppose. Plumbers can fix them (typically by cutting off the damaged area and bypassing it with new plumbing in the attic). But the thing is, the meter would be moving, and your's isn't. So that's good for you.

I don't know how your irrigation system is plumbed and valved. If you entire system stays pressurized (probably not) and something was leaking, you'd probably notice a wet area and you'd definitely see the meter spinning. However, if the leak is in an irrigation zone that is only pressurized when that zone is running, that would explain your meter not moving when the sprinklers aren't running.

There are defective meters, but I would think that's unlikely. It's new and QC/QA is usually pretty good.

Past that, I don't know what to think. Be sure to let us know when the irrigation guy finds the problem tomorrow.

A buddy of mine got a bill like that, his was even larger, and finally after weeks of calling they said it was for past water usage they didn’t charge him for properly at the time.

I had this happen to me. 70k+ gallons. Filed a complaint with the water Dept. They said my usage was way above normal. Duh! They sent someone out, listened to all the lines. No leaks. Ran a test on the meter. Faulty. They replaced and didn't charge me anything for the next three months for the trouble.

Make the call.

Don't be so hard on yourself...I wouldn't go as far as calling you an idiot.

Honestly, your boyfriend should be figuring this out and letting you concentrate on more important things....like getting those sandwiches made.
