12z GFS and 12z NAM surface temps are pretty much right in line with each other once the front passes through the 84 hours NAM gives us. A couple of degrees warmer in Louisiana but still pretty cold. But looking at that right now is just splitting hairs.

I'm invested because I want the record, dammit.

If I have to deal with this misery, the least that can happen is a 3° drop to put the high to 15° instead of 18°. 16° is the record for lowest high that day. Selfishly, I want it, but realistically it doesn't really matter.

Looks like it according to the local weather. Much more manageable.

National blend has the Baton Rouge airport at 19 on Friday morning. 20 degrees is a pretty safe bet for Baton Rouge. Low 20s south of Baton Rouge where God pay attention.

Low 20s, probably, with a 15-20mph Northerly wind.

You gonna put a big blanket on your pony?

I’ve got my two blankets out of storage last night for the two old men in my barn. That wind is gonna be tough.

This is what’s gonna be rough. That’s gonna take a toll on livestock down here. Especially going from 60s to sun freezing in one day. No time to acclimate for the animals.

Colic weather deluxe for horse owners.

I usually don’t blanket mine, but I will given the wind chill. He ain’t use to this being in the Deep South.

The front detailed on the higher resolution Nam 3km is incredible. Especially through the Ohio River Valley. An instantaneous 20 degree temperature change after the leading edge passes. I'm gonna be outside for this one to feel it.

NWS forecast for my area says high of 60 on Thursday and low of ll. I don't see ow that's even possible in this part of the world. I just don't believe it's going to get that cold in a few hours time.

Some baws are going to get caught unprepared in the woods this weekend and find themselves in a survival situation. FACT.

That’s definitely colic weather and there’s one at the barn who is just recovering from colic surgery

Tiger, I’ve got one who is a wooly mammoth and doesn’t usually get blanketed. I’m going back and forth because his blanket isn’t a waterproof turnout and he now lives in the pasture (with a run in).
