The people I’m referencing are city slickers just in depressing small town southern USA.
first of all, Huntsville folks aren't even city slickers, much less Athens size city people.

If you think Athens is depressing, what do you think of places like Selma, Opelika, Demopolis, Walker, La, etc? those places are at least 10x worse than Athens.

My grandma was from the town of Oakman in Walker County Alabama. I was at a race in Dega and told a local that and he said “that’s the most red neck county in Alabama.”

My point is that your evidence is anecdotal. Yes, there are some areas that are hot: Always have been and always will be certain areas that are doing well. But since we are taking about the death of the rural south (and other areas that are experiencing the same sort of long term decline) I am positing what I know to be true with evidence that proves that your point is more than a little myopic.

Hot spots? It’s the avg price for the whole country. You posted 3 farms in some obscure area. Every piece of ground is being farmed where possible in the Midwest, and in the Delta south. There’s a reason there is 97 million acres of corn and 85 million acres of beans planted this year
The price of farmland and the health of towns really don’t correlate anymore. Just look at the Miss Delta

OI. I get it. You're a farmer. Good for you, but I bet that you have some resources that make your ability to be a farmer easier/simpler/more efficient than some dude that has 30 acres in BFE. Stop acting like your reality is the universal truth. It's disingenuous.
