dogs from has become a good friend of ours over the years and she had a cancer where there was no hope, something wrapped around the stem of her brain. She was a former nurse and refused to give up and began a really intense juicing plan and she did the impossible and the cancer was gone. I dont have the email anymore with her story but I just remember enzymes before every meal and lots and lots of vegetable juices. I dont think it was a coincidence her cancer went away.
Ok... Here goes OP. I may get downvoted to oblivion but if there a shot it helps you, frick it. Dr. MacDougall websites. Check some of those stories and videos out. He is VERY anti big pharma and big hospital. He is very vegan as well. If your mind is even open to some of that, check it out. He is going to be anti surgery and VERY anti chemo though. So if chemo is a road you want to go down, disregard much of MacDougall. But don't disregard the dietary changes. It's your fight. Nobody says you can't try both.
frick cancer.
And frick your damned Pancreas while I am at it. Confusing confounding and cancer catching bastard.

Did they say if there is a surgery option?
I know someone who was diagnosed with pancreatic in early 2015. They had surgery to remove a lot of the pancreas. Then they had chemo and radiation. It was hell, but they are alive right now and doing well.
I also know someone who made it 10 years despite awful lifestyle habits. Smoked, drank, etc. He donated his body to science so maybe they could use it find a way to help others.

Methodist has a brand new machine and it runs something called proton therapy.
A guy at works son works on the machine. Said its fricking amazing what they can do and fix with it. Insurance companies still don't want to pay sometimes because it's so new. It's worth looking into.
They said it's a marvel ...

Stout, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he wins the fight. I appreciate your recommendations on MD Anderson, I am leaning towards heading there for a second opinion. I am just not that crazy about my oncologist. Granted I have only met him once, but didn't like the vibe.

Not looney at all.
My dad has juiced carrots hardcore and cut out as much sugar as possible.
Not sure if it helps but it's one of those why not things. Juicing carrots seems to be a popular option amongst many that claim to have healed themselves. Throw in a granny smith apple or two to help with the taste, though.
Yea ever since she gave me her email a couple years ago, I drink juice everyday, surprisingly its not as bad as it sounds, I usually do like 5 carrots, 1 cucumber,2 celery,1 green apple, ginger, tumeric and its great she says thats the drink that saved her life i figure I can squeeze 1 a day in.
I never asked her about the enzyme she took but I remember reading her diet and it said 1 enzyme pill before every meal, what exactly is she referencing there? Is that something normal healthy people should take or just someone sick?

Yea my dad did a few rounds of chemo and stuff back home and didn't care too much for his oncologist and a few other people they put on his "team"
Everyone at MD Anderson has been 100 times better than what we could get in Lake Charles.
Also, I have an uncle with a very rare form of cancer and he came to MD Anderson and received stem cell treatment that he wouldn't have gotten anywhere else. If you are into football, and from Crowley, chances are you know him. Here's an article about him and what MD Anderson has done for him.

I've never heard anyone say they regret going to MDA.
Again, what can it hurt? Even if it's just for a second opinion. You obviously have a desire to fight and live.

To everyone suggesting the juice therapy heading in that direction.
Sadly enough my college roommate and still bff was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in July! I have been helping her get through her treatments & then I got diagnosed - what are those odds?
Anyway she sent me this stuff called essiac tea which is an herb supplement which has some healing properties with cancer. The other articles she sent were on carrot and beet juice (not only do I get cancer but the two juices I hate) :).
Stout thanks for the adding the apples to the carrot juice.

That's terrible news. Don't give up and enjoy each and every day! Life is too short. I wish you the best and hope you kick cancer's arse.

Somebody started posting about juicing? If you don't think MacDougall will discuss juicing and smoothies you've not read any of his shite. You just hate him for being vegan. So be it. If the OP wants to try some dietary therapy, why not? He's a good place to check out. I put in the pitfalls about things he is hardcore against.
The OP can glean out what they don't agree with, but to say all of what MacDougall has to say is trash, just makes you sound moronic.

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You should tell them your concerns about your oncologist when you get the second opinion. A lot of times your gut is right. It isn't that huge a field, I bet someone there knows your oncologist. Maybe he/she is alright but just has a crappy bedside manner? At any rate maybe the could help there. At any rate it seems like it would be good to get that distraction out of the way so you can train all guns on your treatment.

My hat is off to you ATL. If I can muster up 1/2 of your courage and heart I got it made.
Keep on doing what you are doing - sounds like it is working!

Actually believe it or not if you've never had it before, beets make the juice incredibly sweet, so much so that I dont use them, if you like sweet tasting things beet juice is delicious. Best of luck its a really great option
Im telling you I make a great one everyday minus the beets, if you add the beets im sure itll be great.
5 carrots
1 cucumber
1 green apple
2-3 celery
ginger
tumeric
the ginger is the stuff thats the best for you but it tastes awful, i know i know but you gotta do it so throw in a big piece, its for the best

From what I'm reading, your tumor is intimately associated with the major vessels in the center of your abdomen (probably the superior mesenteric artery or the superior mesenteric vein, or both). If this is the case, this involvement of major vessels makes your tumor unresectable by the aforementioned Whipple procedure. Some patients whose pancreatic tumors are adjacent to vessels but not encompassing the vessels can be "converted" to surgical candidates with chemotherapy to shrink the tumor away from the vessels. This approach, although sometimes successful, doesn't have a huge success rate mostly due to the fact that chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer has very poor overall success.
For your tumor, assuming I'm correct in saying it's unresectable, and assuming there is no proven metastatic disease beyond your pancreas, I would suggest you consider the simultaneous combination of chemotherapy and radiation. This approach would offer you the greatest chances of disease control compared to either treatment alone or both treatments in sequence.
As to juicing, the ugly fact is we have no prospective trials guiding our recommendations for or against this diet. In my opinion, it offers no scientific reason why it should have anti cancer properties. That being said, it's almost certain not to harm you. So if it gives you some sense of comfort using a complementary form of "therapy", I wouldn't discourage it. Just be sure to get adequate levels of dietary protein while juicing as this approach alone offers no protein.
As to high levels of antioxidants, if you choose chemo and radiation as your treatment approach, both of these therapies work in part by the formation of oxygen free radicals. Antioxidants could theoretically hinder the effects of chemo and radiation, and I would therefore argue against it during chemo and radiation.
