Pete's tried to be family-friendly and opened several locations in the 90s, and was never the same.
The only one I ever went to was (what I assume is) the original on Johnston St.

Negative. Original was on General Mouton. Johnson was the 2nd location. You missed the glory days, so you get a pass.
They also opened locations on Moss Street and Scott Hwy for about 15 minutes. It was over by then.

I would actually love to be able to overhaul Fleur de Lis with an attention to care and quality.
Their pizza is actually a great interesting style of pizza. In the Midwest they call it “tavern style.” And the Round the World is sort of the perfect combination of ingredients to fit that style - anchovies included, of course.
Problem is, the actual ingredients they use are basically shite, and nobody running the place seems to care about what they are doing, such that it is all so inconsistent and just generally off.
I would love to see somebody try to “gentrify” that place.

Agree on all counts. It's not really my thing, but I can appreciate it for what it is. My issue is that FDL is simply a bad expression of the style. It's a seven minute drive from home for me. I wish I liked it.

My favorite is when some neophytes walk in and ask to put two tables together, or to have separate checks.

No you don't. You love to hate it too much, and espouse that hatred every chance you get.

I love Coffee Call. Lotsa memories of studying there and hangong out with friends. They stayed open real late when I was there.
Weirdest thing I saw was I legit think I saw someone trying to groom a girl there. She was hot, looked like Jennifer Love Hewitt. She was talking to this man in his 60s, grey hair and beard, shirt unbuttoned at the top. They were pouring over fashion magazines. She seemed to be disagreeing about something.

They weren't good at all and I do not understand the love. Cafe au lait was good though.

Let me rephrase: I wish there was a restaurant at FDL's current location that I liked, because it would be convenient for me. Unfortunately, that prime location is currently wasted on the utter shite that is FDL. I wish either someone would take over FDL and make it better, or I wish FDL would close and get replaced by something better.
There, happy now?

Old Coffee Call was in Village Square closer to the IHOP. We used to go there for beignets then hit up Elliot's Bookstore, Service Merchandise or the candy store.
You said a garden but it was more a grassy median between two walkways. Someone uploaded this photo to Facebook which brought back memories.

I gave that hag a case of the flaming red-arse one night. I thought I was going to have to put some Chapstick on it for her.
She could not understand why I did not want to sit a table for 4, with a family of three already at it, and have my wife seated aboot 15 feet away, with another family.

For the privilege of eating overpriced, mediocre at best pizza
