Walnut Room there used to be the best kept dining secret in New Orleans in the late 1970's

I miss greeting/getting met by friends or family right after disembarking the plane, there was something special about it.

I worked close to an airport that had 1hr parking near the entrance. They had several video games and pinball machines right inside, and a few times a year I’d go there for my lunch hour and play pinball.

When my oldest son was very young, he and I would go to Love Field to plane watch. Got a ride one day in the Trinity Industries jet.
There was a time where the airport was a good place to meet women.

In high school, I was in a band with a guy who liked to loiter at the ATL airport which was basically like a gigantic shopping mall, there was free parking at the time (in the 90's). Basically walk around with a Wendy's frosty, smoke cigarettes, and loiter like teenagers. Ride the train between all the terminals. I went with him a few times. I always thought it was weird, we could loiter at the local shopping mall and at least run into friends and girls we knew, and buy drugs. Can't do all that at the airport.

Me and Ms. speck used to go out to BTR and "park" near the runway and "watch" the planes take-off and land. Thought it was a step up from the submarine races at the lakes !

Walked my uncle out to his plane on the tarmac at the old airport in Alex when he went to Vietnam. I miss those days

It was more fun to see someone off rather than drop them off. When I was young none of the people I knew flew very much so it was a bigger deal in general.

Not for fun, but when my dad did the occasional flight for work, my mom, sister, and I would all go greet him at the terminal when he got off the plane. Going to the airport seemed like such a big deal as a kid.
