Typical Louisiana answer... "the problem was here before Edwards showed up so lets not hold him accountable for failing to fix an easy problem".... Pathetic.

If it is so easy to fix why has it remained a problem through so many governors?

I think you might be retarded.

Walt's favorite city to visit was NOLA. He themed part of Disneyland as New Orleans square and had an apartment there.

Would have been great there but our officials have always had their hands out and thats why we don't have much.

Because dumbass voters in Louisiana continue to let their government get away with corrupt shite and never hold the people they elect accountable for anything, its why the smart people in Louisiana get the hell out when they can

Just my opinion, but I believe New Orleans, South Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast would be much different today had Disney located here. I can’t imagine it would have failed based on what we know about Disney as a corporation, its resources and the foresight that Walt Disney had.

Disney was never coming here, it was always Florida. The whole politicians asking for handouts is bullshite, it never happened because the opportunity was never there.

Disney wanted to build his park between BR and NOLA. Good ole baws scared him away.

Was Walt Disney just trying to kill people from heat related illnesses?

Can you imagine i10 with Disney? You would have to pack food and water to go thru town.

Which is why this urban legend has so much traction. Disney had been buying land around Orlando since the early 60s. Louisiana was his leverage. There was never any intent to bring the park here.

It would’ve closed so quickly in La. we can’t have anything nice. I saw that Orlando was the most visited tourist destination in the entire world last year. Imagine if that crowd came through nola how many would be mugged or shot

There is no telling how different Louisiana might be if that thing had been built here and that money was flowing in.

People from all over the world work and visit Disney. That would have a major impact on Louisiana

The "Louisiana could have had Disney World" story seems inaccurate when you look at how the land in Orlando was actually purchased. Disney set up many fake companies and purchased the land cheaply in parts. Once the announcement was finally made that it was Disney purchasing the land all along, real-estate prices in the surrounding area skyrocketed. I seriously doubt Walt let slip to Louisiana politicians that he was planning a second park while keeping the Florida people completely in the dark. Why wouldn't he attack the situation the same way for both locations?

This has long been debunked. Disney never was interested in Louisiana.

You wouldn’t want Disney here. Anyone who’s ever gone to Disney world esp during the high holidays knows what I’m talking about between all the tourist, traffic, and chain restaurants.

How many times.
It was always a myth. Disney looked into buying land all over the place. They just wanted a sweetheart deal from the state.

Louisiana wouldn’t even have been second or third runner up. More like 5 or 6

Florida has much more in way of beaches and a little better weather. Much more diverse food options and entertainment

This is true. New orleans east property was actually scouted. Very true that the politicians were looking for kickbacks.
