The schools under the Catholic Archdiocese of Baton Rouge in my area have been open for over a month. They are restricting movement in schools, doing the mask thing, and checking temperatures. So far, there has been no issues.

Well besides the week they took off for Hurricanes that never came.....don't think they took off because of the hurricanes

I love how some people cruise the board just looking for a chance to correct someone. A lot of people know Baton Rouge isn’t an Archdiocese but was that really relevant to the point of the post...damn.

Not deliberately cruising TD to "Well, actually..." someone but if I see it I'll say something. I've been on the receiving end more than once on here, and I learn because I get called out.

Intent is not an excuse for incorrect information.

So bars should have been open this whole time.

Should have been, but we are in a cautious phase 2, you know, not actually phase 2

This is also true. School boards handling of this has been completely abysmal. It’s like they did nothing since march

The Department of Education has their own guidelines they released based on the phases. Each parish was allowed to choose what they wanted to do.

I doubt EBR goes 5 days a week though. My kids school has already said they’re moving to 5 days once Phase 3 is rolled out.

I don’t think that’s fair to say. School boards couldn’t make decisions until they knew what phase we were in. We weren’t in phase 2 until June. Plus they waited to get the guidelines from DOE.

I'm wondering what schools that were already open will do in Phase 3

My daughter was going 5 days a week, but they are taking temps at drop off, eating lunch outside, teachers have to come to them, and each class has a specific area they have to stay in during recess

wonder if any of those will go away now

I would bet the recess thing may go away. I don’t see the other things stopping.

My kid can’t go on the playground at recess so I’m hoping that goes away too. They also serve their lunch in the cafeteria but in styrofoam to-go boxes- which makes no sense

Let me check mine

Just looked, no difference for us

All policies of phase 2 still remain for phase 3

I love how asshats who have no idea of the extra work teachers have to do say this. Currently, teachers in my parish have to teach normal class and record lessons and assign lessons for the virtual days. Add on top of that additional assignments for the kids that have chosen to only do virtual learning. Oh, and you must make contact with your virtual only students twice weekly. Moran.

I believe Baton Rouge is overseen by a bishop and not an archbishop, therefore Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge is the correct identification.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm not Catholic, but my kids attend a Catholic school.

Temp checks, smaller aftercare, no combined lunches, things like that
