I didn't bother reading past this ignorant statement.
Either Mojo is trolling or an ignorant s.o.b.!
I vote ignorant as he pulled up a road test from '69.
Like people use these cars as daily drivers.
Btw-My big arse 455 dynoed at 469hp and 573 torque. Mild motor.
Got shitty mileage. Didn't care.

From 82 to 90, I drove my 69 Chrysler convertible as a daily driver. It drank gas (440 c.i. plus a huge Holley 4 bbl) but it was a blast to drive. It is a barge and it was (and still is) really fun to drive on a highway trip.

Their classics agree the box Volvo and old imports.
The Volvo 240 is hot with the hipster crowd.

If there's a car that would survive a nuclear holocaust, its that one.

New cars come with fuel management systems, old cars came with fuel dumping systems.

Its important to note that during this timeframe, horsepower numbers prior to 1972 were reported by the American carmakers as the gross SAE measurement of horsepower. This meant that the horsepower was measured from an engine running on a test stand with no air cleaner, accessories, or exhaust system connected.
These figures for the old cars is SAE Gross HP.
The modern cars HP are SAE net after mechanical losses. The modern cars are more powerful period.

That was my first car, one time a fully loaded 18 wheeler beat me off the line.

I had to put in a bigger needle and seat in the Quadrajet as it wouldn't dump enough fuel.
Small fuel bowl is the downside of the QJet.

I’m 29 and Ive owned a 72 Chevy C10 I restored and sold and a 77 K5 blazer I had for a play around truck. Rebuilt engine in the C10 at 16 years old by myself.
Currently looking for a muscle car or 50s/early 60s Cadillac but damn they’re expensive even for ones not running

I've always preferred the look of the 60 Caddy over the 59.
Fins still big but not so over the top. And the lens molded into the fin is much better looking than the bullets.

I’m 28. My First car was a 95 GMC Sonoma pickup truck with a busted A/C, broken cassette player, and a complete inability to accelerate over 60 mph without shaking like it was going to explode. My next car I was handed down from my brother was a 2001 PT Cruiser that caught me endless shite from my friends. It could get up to 80 before rattling, but it was always broken down in the shop. My high school parking lot in the late 2000’s was filled with 90’s toyotas, broken down ford rangers, montecarlos, and impalas. The coolest kids maybe drove a heavily used pontiac firebird. Definitely not nostalgic about any of the cars from my youth.
I’m currently driving my newest car, only 117,000 miles on it, and it’s still 7 years old. What young people outside of maybe ultra rich sorostututes/frat stars are being given new cars at 18?

idn't even take the carb off the intake, just cleaned out the bowl good and put everything in it. Primed the Carb and it fired right up.
The brakes were stuck, so my brother had to drag it a little ways to free them up. I drove that thing 20 miles to my house right then.
I'll get on a YouTube binge every so often of watching junkyard or barn-find old vehicles getting started. Find some old Y-block Ford that had sat under a tree for 20 years, get it running, and drive it out of the field. Modern engines are nowhere near as abuse/neglect tolerant.

I'm guessing they chose an old X frame car for the offset test for a reason. Also, one can see the rust fly out of it in the slow mo.
Small overlap test was an issue for many vehicles until recently, but yeah, I’m sure an X frame only makes that worse. But still, I think that crash was only 30/35 MPH.
ETA:
The Nissan Quest was the most recent really poor one I’ve seen

The crash standards are why a new Camaro weighs 800-1000 pounds more than one from 69. While having an aluminum block and heads and much thinner sheet metal.
I just saw a test of the ZL1, GT500 and Hellcat and the weights were insane. Around 3900, 4200 and 4500.

Why do people do this? So dumb. As for me, I’d absolutely love to own classic cars. But my obsession (air cooled Porsche’s) are a bit out of my financial reach right now. But soon.

I’m not much younger than you and my high school parking lot was mostly mid 2000s Japanese cars, newer trucks, and 3 series breamers and benzes
