If I don’t shift in time on my tractor, I might miss a spot and have to make an extra pass on the bush hog.
If I screw it up behind the wheel of a car, I go crashing into a stopped car at 70 mph.

I’m sure I could learn, but why? My car only exists to get me where I need to go. My automatic transmission is easy, and I already get enough speeding tickets as it is. What does a classic car with a manual transmission do for me that my hyndai sedan doesn’t do other than look cool?

I'm GenX and I have a 1966 Mustang. I usually only see boomers riding around in old cars from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Seems like millennials aren't interested in restoring, buying, or driving these beauties.

Your generation grew up driving these cars and owning/restoring them brings back nostalgia for you. Not so much for millenials. Not really hard to understand.

Why would missing a shift make you not use the brakes?

I think a point that is missed would be there is no link between millenial popular culture and classic cars. Outside of Fast & Furious what classic cars have been popular for millenials?

Most of you are outstandingly ignorant on technology.

Cars are overkill for most people and the unsafe, gas guzzling cars from the 70's are an abomination to society and the environment.

You're a fart-sniffing wimp that a car would be wasted on.

If some boomer wants a 69 camaro, he should get with the times and get a new camaro with 500HP, 25mpg, clean emissions crumple zones and air bags instead of some 50 year old death trap with 200HP and loud exhaust that would be obnoxious to a harley owner.

Resto-mod 69 Camaro with the same 500hp drivetrain with less bloat than the pig-heavy modern cars would get better MPG's.

Technology is moving fast.

Apparently you don't know anything about modern aftermarket EFI systems. There's almost nothing that can't be done with them these days. Some Boomer getting te tuning done on his car on a dyno in Texas while the car is controlled and dialed-in through a WiFi connection a thousand miles away while you can't program your TV without a dumbed-down app with a guided walkthrough and animated pictures.

On my tractor when you break without downshifting, it doesn’t stop, just slows down while fighting to lurch forward like a strong dog on a leash

Might just be my shitty old tractor.

I think my love for Boomer classics comes from my upbringing. My dad had a '66 GTO and a '72 Jimmy. Grandfather had a '57 GMC pickup. Uncle had a '67 911. Loved riding around in all of them as a kid.

At one point even the dumbest people in the country drove a stick, and you say you cannot figure it out. Hopefully, you just haven't tried due to a lack of opportunity, and not you have tried many times and can't do it.

I’m not interested in dropping $25k for a Chevrolet Chevelle roller that needs body work

That seems excessive unless it's got paperwork for a desirable option package. Meaning SS with good motor.

Unless one can do all the work, and has lots of time, one is always better off buying one already done.

Saying that, I was looking for a '69 Camaro shell to build a race car. Cheapest stripped out, gutted, rusty body I found was $7k.

Never tried on a car. Never needed to. Just seems like an extra layer of complication to get where you’re going, and a massive pita in bumper to bumper traffic.

A late 80's M-class would be badass.

Perhaps if you understood how to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission you wouldn't have these issues.

Beautiful cars. Notoriously known for electrical problems.

No. Cobra was a better performer, there's no question. But looks aren't judged by the performance.

Sounds like your brakes probably don't work anymore, and being an older model, probably never ever worked all that well.

To the OP, most of the reason why you only see older dudes with classics is because it takes about that long in life to get to the point where you can afford it.

If I had absolutely frick-you money, I'd roll around town in a '20s Phantom.
