Yeah. I've only tried to drive a stick once, in a friend's dad's truck around the block back in high school. Zero desire or need to try again.

That seems excessive unless it's got paperwork for a desirable option package. Meaning SS with good motor.

Yes my statement was very hyperbolic, you can find them starting at $5k but as a millenial there are only a few classic cars that I feel that I have a connection to like the Bandit Trans-Am.

And why do I need to ever learn? Seems like a skill that adds zero utility to my life other than the ability to flex on young whippersnappers on the internet.

You don't, but you based on your story about your tractor operating abilities, it sounds like you should.

Late 70's Trans-Ams can be had for relatively cheap because the engines are underpowered garbage. Same for almost any late 70's "muscle" car. Even a Corvette can be found for a reasonable price.

2012 ZL1 Camaro vs 1969 Camaro

Restomods are bad arse.

There's a 67 GTO for sale down the road from me that is absolutely all original, it has less than 100,000 miles on it has the factory 389/335 horse, factory 4 speed car. The current owner bought the car in 1971 from the original owner. It was bought new at a dealership 30 miles away. Original white Paint and black interior.

The guy is a professor at Texas A&M and is having some health issues, the car is at his mothers house. I think 25 grand would buy the car. It's a driver right now. It could use paint, but I'm not sure that I would paint it.

Bandit Trans Am's with the WS6 package have been getting up there in price for what they are.

That tractor went up to the big pasture in the sky after the 2016 flood. I now live somewhere where I don’t have to cut my own grass and hope I never need to for the rest of my life.

Its a shame how much those big motors like the 455 were neutered by the emissions garbage that was placed on them. My mother had a 350 in her 1988 Firebird Formula that has less power than the motor in my Focus ST.

Apparently you don't know anything about modern aftermarket EFI systems. There's almost nothing that can't be done with them these days. Some Boomer getting te tuning done on his car on a dyno in Texas while the car is controlled and dialed-in through a WiFi connection a thousand miles away while you can't program your TV without a dumbed-down app with a guided walkthrough and animated pictures.

Those are all pretty pricey options for limited functionality. And before you bring it up i've tuned almost every aftermarket option out there from FAST classic to Motec.

I love how there's such a popular meme around here that millennials are shite with money and they are poor because they spend all their money on the latest thousand dollar phone or because they buy starbucks everyday.

Then there's this thread where OP is wondering why millennials won't drop 10s of thousands on an impractical second or 3rd car as a hobby.

Gotta love the OT

Slightly less HP.

A lot more torque.

Without a turbo.

I'm amazed at the power they are getting along with mileage these days. The tech has really improved performance. LS based motors can build just stupid amounts of power. Saw a test were they put a massive turbo on a stock 4.8 to see if they could break it. Boosted it to around 1300hp iirc.

I'm 32 and I can drive just about any vehicle, machine, and can fly a small plane decently. Sticks were still fairly common when I started learning to drive. Even as a child I started learning by shifting the gears in my dad's truck and my uncle's truck while they drove and pushed the clutch. Had the timing down long before I ever actually drive anything.

As a member of the Oregon Trail Generation and a big fan of classic cars, here's my take.

First of all, cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s aren't cars that Millennials grew up dreaming about as teenagers. What you're seeing now are a lot of what were considered nice vehicles in the 80s and 90s are all of a sudden selling for big bucks as Millennials get older and come into money through career or inheritance. Cars like the BMW E30 and basically any type of Porsche except for the ugly duckling. Vehicles like these have skyrocketed in price on the used car market because Millennials and gen-xers are snatching them up to restore them.

Another possible difference is that when Boomers and to a lesser extent gen-xers were growing up, their parents didn't automatically give them a brand new car(or <5yrs old). Millennials lack of interest in cars of their generation is likely a result of helicopter parenting and the 'spare the rod, spoil the child" raisin' that was all the rage when Millennials were coming up. If you were a Boomer or a Gen-Xer you were likely buying a car that was definitely used, likely 10 years old or older and you had to pay for it yourself working a part-time job. That means that the cars that were new during the time you were growing up weren't attainable and therefore you lusted after them so when you got older and you finally had some money that's what you wanted to buy. If you're a millennial and you are handed a brand new 2019 or 2020 car what is there to lust after and desire for when you get older?

I feel bad for millennials. Their spoiled childhood has left them unfulfilled and miserable
