I've never once hit my dog and he is as well behaved as any dog I've come across
when I trained him, I basically showered him with love and threw him a party any and every time he did something I wanted him to do.
He basically lives to please.
hitting dogs just doesn't work. dogs trust you and they dont always know when theyve done something wrong

I would never have my dog sleep outside personally

separation anxiety. My gf's GSD is the same way at 1yr.
Do they get over that? I can't bring her inside because she barks at the cats and they attack the dog.
This is probably temporary because she is new. I assume they will learn to tolerate each other. And I have a big back porch and a massive fenced yard

What should I do then? Remember I've never owned a dog before 6 months ago.

Your dog has a rare cancer- like disease which causes him to act like a complete idiot. This disease is usually transmitted by the caretaker or owner. He will only be trouble for you so you should give him away.

There are tactics to train the dog to play nice with the cats...but I don't know of any cat training.
Basically have a treat out and if your dog starts getting uptight about the cats, focus her attention on the treats. reward her every so often.
An easier plan is to get rid of the cats...because they are useless.

There are only two ways that I found work for this - vigorous exercise and chew toys (you can never have too many). Age also will help this tremendously. Pups are just teething and energetic. Beautiful dog BTW! Is it a shepherd or a malinois?

Honestly we saw a girl post a photo on a shelter website. The shelter said "You can't post your dog here" and took it down. I contacted the girl and went to see her dog. She was in a small pen, her nose was scraped up from trying to get out of an extremely small pen. She was underweight bad and looked terrible. My wife immediately said "We need to take her home" so we did. It was a quick process. This is her:

You should get a crate but don't get a cheap one. Ours is an escape artist. He's broken one wire cage and the wire door on a plastic one. We zip tied together the wire one and he hasn't gotten out yet though.
Give her a hollow bone or kong toy filled with peanut butter that's been in the freezer. Should keep her occupied for a little while

If you were to get home and start yelling about something they did earlier....they will have NO clue. You have to catch them in the act and then correct it.
Dogs chew. We taught our new dog "leave it" and he eventually learned the things that were his toys and the things that he could not chew on. That command is also fantastic in a lot of other situations.

shepherd. She's awesome and is possibly the smartest dog I've ever owned. They chewing is absolutely her only flaw.

man I can tell that dog wants:
Excercise
Affection
Food
Chew Toys
Give her those things and she will be your best friend.

she's getting massive doses of all of that stuff. I guess I just need to wait it out.

We have a couple dogs and they were both from shelters. It's incredible how different they look after a month or two of good exercise and good food.

I guess I left out "she doesn't want to be an outside dog"
