The last lab I had, that had to be put down at age 17, was fed Ol' Roy. He was a beast and is always missed.
We have always fed our hunting dogs Ole Roy and know our Cane Corso Ole Roy and never had a problem.
Nothing wrong with grain based dog food as long as the dog doesn't have special needs (allergies or digestive problems)

My Boston Terrier was red as a beet from allergies around 2 yrs of age. My vet said simply that most dog foods are made of grains and dogs eat meat. Since switching to a meat based dog food we haven't seen any problems. In reality most grocery store dog foods are about the same as feeding your dog cherrios.

keep in mind that we are talking about a creature that sits around licking his balls all day for entertainment...if left unchecked, he will gladly dive right in to any festering dead creature along side of the highway for a meal and be totally happy with it.
with that in mind, I am thinking that it is not all that critical which dog food you buy, as those are marketed to people instead of dogs...just get some mid-grade dogfood that he likes and don't sweat over it any at all...
if it makes you feel better, get a small bag of the overpriced stuff to display when guests come over...

Diamond lamb and rice is the best bang for buck dog food IMO.
Usually mix with raw chicken necks. My dogs work hard and are in great shape.

Nope. We've had deer hounds on ol Roy forever and they managed to stay in shape through deer season.
Some people spend WAYYYYYY too much on dog food, but whatever.

Some people eat McDonald's and other garbage all the time too. It's really no different, well Ol Roy is under an almost constant recall, but McDonalds is probably not much better.
I can feed my dog on the BARF diet for cheaper and a lot better than most dry dog food.

I'm not saying ol Roy is what you should feed your dog.
If you want to spend a shitpile of money on dog food go ahead, but I think you start running into diminishing returns pretty quick around diamond lamb and ride.

Human food should be marketed as having the benefit of a shiny coat/head of hair.
