Why would that matter? If they are board certified they are “qualified” right?

That's why I first asked for the more important metric their MCAT scores. Keep up

Why did you assume the two screw up doctors went to a foreign medical school?

I’m keeping up very well. You just showed everyone that you know lower standards for admission lead to less competent doctors. So why should we admit black students with lower standards just because they are black? Or any color for that matter.

Pretty sure there are only 4 that confer medical degrees.

People need to sue. Harangue their congressmen and Senators. Go after state reps until this is fixed.

MrSpock…

So completing medical school, residency and becoming board certified is secondary to someone's MCAT score in regards to medical competence?

Also MrSpock…

I meant the two screwups. If they graduated from overseas. There are also studies that show that foreign medical graduates have the highest rate of medicare fraud.

Why does it matter where they went to school, they graduated right?

It’s because those schools accept students with lower MCATs and GPAs and you just let it slip that you know those students aren’t as good as the students from schools with higher standards.

Time to go to bed bud, you just wrecked yourself.

So you are saying medical schools aren’t actually looking at race?

Clearly not. The elevated acceptance rate at certain cohorts and the relative consistency of the acceptance rate of Black applicants is literally based on the the fact that there are a group of schools which are organized around training Black doctors. Those institutions might be vestigial but I'm guessing their express purpose is by definition race-based. Going by the actual numbers and some eyeball figures of the demographic information of the schools, I'd suggest that a minimum of 60% of Black matriculants are attending these institutions, which leaves around 500 per year for every other institution in the US. Which does seem to reflect some of the other demographic numbers I've seen from other medical schools.

Oh so we all invented diversity and inclusion in our heads and it was HBCUs skewing the data this whole time

You are funny

Like I’ve said. I e sat in these meetings where literally people have said “we took a lot of white applicants in the last class. We need more diversity.”

No, no there are not. I know you looked and found a list of HBCUs with medical programs, not knowing there was a difference. There is Charles Drew, Meharry, Morehouse, Howard, and several that have partnerships with other medical schools, including guaranteed interviews. I was wrong about the overall number though and just extrapolated from the the Meharry and Morehouse. I would still say that Meharry, Morehouse and Howard still buttress acceptance rates given their demographics, but Charles Drew doesn't seem to cater exclusively to Black Americans by their demographic information.

How can it be irrelevant in a thread that’s saying white kids aren’t getting into Med school? “End of white male doctors”

Again the Op seems worried about it too.

Maybe you should think why these institutions formed before being so glib.

But that's always a stated goal that never seems to be reached, among many others depending on the program director. It's as much a function of how medicine has become the arm of the administrative state, where it has to, for some reason, achieve some stated goal as a proxy for 'we can't possibly be racist, just look at our numbers,' which is about as poor a way of fighting racism as can be.

In my experience, the most racist and difficult doctors have been, beyond a shadow of a doubt, older IMGs. Some are great, but some others man. I saw one slap a resident who happened to be from the same country or share the same ancestry. I couldn't parse what exactly amidst the chaos.

I'm interested in your thoughts on board scores and physician quality though. Do you think there's a direct correlation, in your experience?

My bad. I couldn't tell if it was being glib so I went with my standard comeback to the glib. Mea culpa.

No problem. Now that I read your post again, it was obvious you were talking about med schools. Reading comprehension fail on my part.

Be patient. The Supreme Court is getting ready to hear the Harvard and North Carolina cases in October. Thomas and Alito are definite NOs on this racist garbage. As long as Roberts isn't blackmailed he's already on the record as being against it. So, they just need 2 of the 3 remaining (Kav/ACB/Gorsuch) to put an end to the most systemic racist/shameful institutions this country has tolerated for the last 55 years.

I think they'll get all three. I don't put it past Roberts to do a 180 and come up with some obviously fraudulent reason to explain away this.....

Go look at the website of CIS.

More than half of the cardiologists there are non-white and/or foreign born.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Standardized tests are correlated with MCAT which is correlated with board passage rates. So yes it’s all correlated.

Is it highly correlated? No. But you can’t find a metric that is more correlated than standardized testing.

I have no idea how you drew that conclusion. I'm saying doctors of all ethnicities are not doing right by their patients anymore, and far too many kill their patients every year. Medical error/malpractice is a top 5 cause of death that people don't talk enough about.
