Also got a fantastic chemistry set with probably 48 different types of chemicals and substances along with a torch to cook them.
Crazy the stuff they put in those chemistry sets back then.
I clearly remember cobalt was one of them; it was a blue powdery substance I used to grow crystals later on.
Mattel electronic football and electronic battlestae galactica were also amazing as was wildfire pinball.

First of all, great topic. For me it is the original nintendo. My parents had me convinced not to expect one. I snuck down around 3 am and the old man had hooked it up to a little tv from the spare bedroom. I don’t know how I went back to sleep for a few hours. For the next few days I played kung fu, excite bike, duck hunt. I have to hand to my parents, my childhood was phenomenal.

The Sears catalog showing up at our house was pretty awesome too. I only got maybe 10% of what I wanted, but I remember waiting for it every year. I remember the gi Joe aircraft carrier, the robot waiter, castle gray skull, etc. Fond memories.

I’ve got 12 cousins, but only one male cousin. We were born the same week,so we were always tight. When we were 10 our papaw got us both a Browning a5 20 gauge. That afternoon us two and papaw went to his camp for a week. You walk off the back porch of the camp and you’re in Overflow NWR. We duck hunted in the morning, then loaded up the dogs and squirrel hunted in the afternoon. That was the late 90’s when the duck hunting was great. We did that every year until he passed away in 2014. Me and cuz are going to go out there Thursday and see what we need to do to get the camp back up and going. Maybe get a couple of Mountain Curs and get back to squirrel hunting. Didn’t mean to write a novel, just reminiscing. Got a safe full of guns, but that 20 gauge is still no.1.

This thread is revealing, explains a lot of post by these individuals. Well done.

Puppy. My mom had asthma, so pets were few and far between. Finally got a collie (Lassie , not border) when I was around 8 or 9.
There was always one book in the mix, I remember Walt Disney’s Worlds of Nature as one.
Sis and I each got a vinyl outfit in the sixties one Christmas. Hers was colorful stripes, my was black/white polka dot. Jacket, skirt, beret….They would be worth $$$ now! Antiquetiger would sell the hell out of them! (Actually, I’ve sold on eBay for years, I would have already done it) Authentic, vintage MCM psychedelic era clothing.
